Nope we never do. Branching is based on a national ranking system that assigns a point value to gpa, pt scores, military training, leadership assessments, and extra curricular activities. So after they make the list they split it into 2 pools 1-50% and 50-100%. They then take how many officers they need for each branch and 65% go to the upper pool, the remaining 35% go to the lower that's where it's bullshit because I was in the top 25% and couldn't get infantry because the slots ran out in my pool before my rank, but a semi shitbag classmate of mine who was in the 53% had choice of any branch.
