    Post Scholarship Interview

I have an ROTC scholarship interview scheduled tuesday next week and NCSU, and would appreciate any advice on this? Needless to say I am a bit nervous, but feel confident. I have completed my DoDMerb process as well as the scholarship fitness test.

Another plus I see is that I have already met all of the Army staff at NCSU and had an informal meeting with them, as well as the LT. Col. who will be administering the interview. He is a very comfortable person to speak with, and is Airborne and Ranger qualified. I was just wondering what exactly to expect aside from the usual academic/sports/motivation questions. Thank you

You're overthinking this. ROTC uses a scholar/athlete/leader model when determining who gets a scholarship, so expect "the usual academic/sports/motivation" questions and not much else. You will more than likely be asked for examples of situations where you provided leadership to others, questions about your study habits, and a few softballs like "what do you do for fun?" I imagine it will not be much different from the informal meetings you referenced. Just answer whatever they ask truthfully.

Or, they might flex cuff you and beat you with rubber hoses. I don't have a crystal ball. Good luck.

There are different types of scholarships, different levels that are passed out based on; 1) your qualifications vss other applicants, b) the critical need of your field. Some levels pay 100% of your tuition plus a stipend while others pay less. Which field you choose makes a huge difference. Go into an area you think you will enjoy, but if there's a choice between two, go the route where you're more likely to get a better scholarship. Do your homework.
    The answer- November 6, 2012.

Listen to the previously mentioned advice. Be honest, THINK first before you answer the question, take 2-3 seconds to formulate your answer. It wont be difficult, and they wont beat you with a rubber hose. After chatting with you
Im sure you will do just fine.

I appreciate all the advice. The interview went great today, extremely smooth and easy. Had a great conversation with him, not like an interview at all really. Thanks for the help BlackWings, it really came in handy today.

That's an incredible blessing, right there. Make the most of it. The opportunity to get an education without starting your career under a ton of student loan debt is a much bigger thing than most people realize. If you start off by putting 10% of what you make in a 401K or IRA, you'll retire (unless Skynet attacks first) a wealthy man.
