Morning all,
I did a chunk of recon on this place and will pass it along now, the addresses and contact information are posted above, so I won't rehash. . .
The following is MY approach from the east.
I will share a few picks to HOPEFULLY (I hate that word) make the drive easier, because they use postage stamps to mark the place with street signs. I came out of Houston and approached along HWY 3013 to Co Rd 207. If you are coming from the west into Eagle Lake it is probably a little easier because there are roads there. First as you are rocketing down 3013 at literally 70mph you will see this:
DSCF0831.jpg
It is an open field with a TINNNNYYYYYYYY sign for 'Little Public Road Co Rd 207' that gives you less than a second's notice of the road. It is a really long name on a really small font sign and the road itself is nearly invisible and has no other distinguishing markers.
Here is the road itself:
DSCF0830.jpg
As you can see there are NO distinguishing characteristics on the Co Rd 207 and it is nearly an unimproved surface, there were some patches that needed work so don't be going 70mph when you hit that one . . . Take that all the way to the end
Where you will see this:
DSCF0829.jpg
Make a left heading south west, there is a lack of options so pretty much any other direction you hit a fence or a field.
THIS IS RIGHT ABOUT WHERE THE EASTERN AND WESTERN APPROACHES CONVERGE:
You are looking for this airfield:
DSCF0825.jpgDSCF0826.jpgDSCF0827.jpgDSCF0828.jpg
The absolute FINAL stretch is this sign as you make the final turn into the airfield:
DSCF0822.jpg
Behind the signs is the actual hard surface of the airfield. Make a left at the signs and you will see these two areas:

It is pretty simple once you find the right road, but watch your 'pace count' and for 'opps I've gone to far markers', like the damn railroad crossing that clued me into the fact I had gone too far.
I'll be late on Friday. I have to handle some family stuff, probably deal with HPD and send a report to counsel before I can leave on my own trip out there. It will take me about two hours and I don't think I'll be able to leave before 1930, so finger and toe math you won't see me until 2130.
I WILL however stock a cooler of beer and bring it out since I'm headed to Sam's today so I can share some beer.
Doug

Does anyone know a good place to pick up the firewood between Houston and the dropzone? I'm on the hook for the firewood. I can get a box at Walmart but that's expensive and sucky wood. I have the camp stove, propane bottles for it and Red Solo cups![]()
Picking other stuff up at Walmart in sealy on my way through. Leaving Torrey Chase area of Houston by 3:30 plus trip to Wally world should be there by 6-ish I think

BAM...
On S4: what worked at Sizzler was a potluck-style "catering", which I'm pimping right now: bring your own, plus enough to share.
Obviously, common supplies will be necessary, such as camp stoves/griddles, coffee maker, pans and pots, utensils, coolers, ice, etc.
Among the individual supplies I'd recommend 1 case of bottled water per participant, Gatorade, snacks/granola bars/MRE.
One idea was floating around was a waffle/pancake easy mixes (adding water only): could be excellent for breakfasts.
Current standing (sound off with corrections and add-ons) below.

Black Hat: You have the rest of your Airborne life to think about it.
I got games too... I need someone to help me get the firewood with a truck...and need to know who sells firewood around there. I have a bunch of solo cups and can pick up plates etc today.
