    Default 2011 Summer Sizzler AAR

Wow. What an awesome weekend we all had together. I am working on putting my thoughts together and will return with an update after equipment recovery. Stay tuned and if you add anything remember this is in public view.

No doubt, that whole weekend was OFS! Picked a little guitar with BG, drank with a shit ton of Brothers and Sisters, koala-fied a new Lieutenant, and didn't have a single hangover.

Rockout, if you get a chance, I want copies of the videos you took while BG and I were playing guitar, and the .50, just any of 'em you care to share. Address, email, I'll pay for shipping or materials.

Ok men, here it is from my perspective. Others feel free to add because I am sure going to miss someone or something no doubt (especially from Thursday night )

Shadow- You and Shelly are the greatest hosts anyone could ever have! Thank you both from my son and I for your generosity and opening up your home for this event. You are an awesome brother. Your Mom, Pop and sister came through and hooked us up big time on Saturday evening. The donation from your aunt was outstanding and a special thank you to them as well.

RH- It was awesome to finally meet you in person brother! We did it up big on Thursday night and kept challenging one another to take it to the next level until someone (I ain't gonna name no names) gave out on me. Your involvement in the whole process this weekend was invaluable and I thank you as well from the bottom of my fart er um I mean heart. You are an awesome friend. You and Shadow created this awesome event that we hold each year and that is a credit to you both.

Sgt Raven- You are the coolest Russian I have ever met even though I only know one. Seriously though, you are an awesome friend and individual. Your assistance with everything was top shelf in my book and those of my peers. Thank you for all you did to make this event a success.

Blackwings- You are going to do well. You took your lumps like a man and you are cleared to hurry up and get promoted so you are not walking around with that damned butter bar, sir. It was great to meet you.

Har- You are a machine brother! You kept us fed in the morning and "Rangered up" at any opportunity. It was great to meet you and partake in plenty of beers my friend. You are a great example to the Maxter and the young LT.

Chop- You came through again as always with plenty of deer meat. The deer burgers and steaks on Friday night were top notch. What happened after that well.... That will have to go in it's own thread.

Rock Out - as usual you come through in every way, shape in form. From the range set up to being the videographer for the event you were always on the ready. I bet you have some stories to tell. If you were there on Thursday night you would have captured the most awesome bull fight.

BG and IED - Thank you both for providing the Music entertainment on Saturday night. You guys did awesome and I appreciate you both.

ItalyJumper - Great to meet you and thank you for your continued service. It was great to catch up on how much Italy has changed since I was there. You seemed a little tired last night so I could not catch up with you more but maybe next time.

MasterBlaster - Thank you for coming out and bringing that tractor trailer of yours. It gave all of us something to drool over. Thank you for your service and good luck in your future endeavors as you transition. Keep us posted please.

MI - well MI. Never a dull moment with you around sister. It was great to see you again.

Rcook, Ferret, JackF, and others that gathered for our morning cup of joe. Thanks for keeping the conversation going. We sure are glad the electric fence was not turned on!

I am sure there will be more but that will have to wrap it up for me for now. I will come back on later when I get some other things done that need to be recovered after the weekend at Bernie's

Well put, Curt. On behalf of all the Association and Site Staff, I'd like to recognize and thank:

RH for coordinating the event. Great job, brother, as always.

Sgt Raven, for an outstanding job with S-4 duties. Top notch!

Rockout for much of the "behind the scenes" work.

Rocket for helping the promotion of the event via Facebook.

Shadow and his family for hosting. They put an enormous amount of effort and expense into this every year.

The whole gang who ran the range this year (not mentioning names because I'm sure I'll leave someone out, but you know who you are). The range was outstanding.

MI for bringing the cutest guest... (You gonna get her on here, or what?)

And everyone else who participated and helped (cause I'm sure I forgot someone). It's always good to put faces to screen names and it helps strengthen our community.

Just like what has been posted, thanks to all. Food was great. Messing with the LT was fun, I just hope I never have to work with him, it will be painful for one of us. LOL Was glad to finally meet some of the people that make this site what it is. MM- sorry that I didnt pack the chute. If youre in my AO bring it with you and I'll see about getting it done. Food, beer, friends and guns what more could you ask for. Thanks again to all.

Brothers and Sisters all, I had a blast. Thanks for the invite and Hospitality. Shadow, you and your Six opened up your house to us all and I for one appreciate it. The Maxster was a hoot and as permanent Cheif of Safety you MUST respect his Ah-thor-iiiiitay!

I got on the road early so I missed saying goodbye to most, But I gave Brother Har a big ol ass squeeze to pass around to each and everyone of you.

Dennis, thanks for sharing your hootch with me. WELL BELOW Air Force standards, but I hope I kept the snoring and farting to a minimum. Thanks brother!

P-Chop.......well......I will never look at the Superman emblem again without ever thinking of you!

MI...You can dance on me like you did on Chop ANYTIME! Your battle buddy too! But I also must say, that deermeat was fucking OUTSTANDING!!!!! Damn that shit made me want to punch my momma in the neck it was that good.

Ladies, Erin, Doc, nice to see ya'll again and thanks for coming. I hope we didn't embarass ya'll to bad with our extreme good looks and gentlemeny ways.

Raven- my favorite Russian spy. Thanks for the stories, I'm sorry I missed the uniform shots, my old ass went to bed early so I could get home to my Six. But I will see the pics. Thanks for being an American. We could use more like you.

Jaybird, my brother.....you upped me. That coin shall remain the biggest I've seen....for now. Revenge is a dish best served cold....and I will have it!

Master Blaster, you optic using cheat!!! Enjoy the A-bag brother.

I your humble Pistol Shooting Champion, (and over all 2nd place winner....see above) thank you for having me.

A reminder: Ensure that each of you PM your Screen name, real name and addy so I can get you your coin. I am in Chucktown this coming Wednesday and I will start mailing them out from there. So shoot me your addresses ASAP!!!

    Much love, Big Al

The following is an AAR from ShadowCop, and myself...

Wednesday started with my arrival at RDU, and linking up with the reception committee.
ShadowCop, Raven, Rocket, and slice elements. RockOut lead the patrol over to another location within the airport so that the Chiefs HH6 can observe aircraft landing, and taking off. We then traveled to the Waffle house to partake in some of the local food. While others bullshitted...RH was sneaking food from their plates. The evening ended at the Chiefs house with bar b qued ribs, and cold beverages.

Thursday morning kicked off with the arrival of Sizzler attendee's as the Urban Assault Vehicle arrived with Ferret at the helm, Bgermain navigating, and Ranger Har as the door gunner. This was quickly followed with other arrivals from Rocket, his son Ian, LadyDoc, and JustErin. We all enjoyed a spaghetti dinner with garlic bread. Which was prepared by me with assistance from Shadow and Chiefs HH6's.

The Sizzler had unofficially started... .
There was heavy drinking, more food, and a headbutting contest between myself, and Rocket. This was quickly ended when we realized that "this shit hurts". The partying continued until around 03:30am when the last of us hit the "fart sacks".

    Friday arrivals ...

PChop, ItalyJumper and MasterBlaster, MM11C, Sgt. Raven, RCook, ABN5-0, IED Magnet and HH6, Dmeija, and finally MI and Lorena.

The morning started with breakfast which was prepared Ranger Har. He prepared Omelettes, and was assisted by his egg crackin biotch...ShadowCop. Folks this Ranger can cook. Thanks brother.

After the firday dinner we held the official briefing for the Sizzler. There was plenty of grub and drinks to be had. But, the drinking of alcohol slowed, and hydrating began. As everyone understood and agreed to the breathalyzer test, and field sabriety tests given by our LEO members.

Saturday morning began with the Ops NCO, followed quickly with the arrival of BlackWings. This butterbar was immediately welcomed with several salutes from Magnet. Who then spot corrected LT for not returning salute...

Another fine breakfast of eggs, bacon, and sausage was prepared and served by Ranger Har, and ShadowCop. After chow the field sobriety tests began, and the Range Masters with their support elements were OM to the shooting range.

The competition was kick ass. Our Range instructors did an OFS job...thanks Ferret, ItalyJumper, Ardent Lady, MasterBlaster, and Jack. It was a fucking "HOT MOFO", BUT EVERYONE DROVE ON! The .50 cal. sniper rifle was brought out at the end...and we have some good shooters folks...they were hitting the targets.
We egressed from the range, and convoyed back to DZ Shadow for the feast...courtesy of Shadows mom, sister, aunt, and daddy. These folks put out a spread! Fried chicken, veggie medley, au gratin pototes, rolls, banana puddin...and so on. There was enough food to feed an army.
After chow came the Shooting contest ceremony. The following members were recognized for their fine shooting capabilities:

MasterBlaster...1st place...awarded a trophy, kit bag, and BRAGGING RIGHTS!
    Mortarman11C...2nd place...awarded a rifle case.

One question for BW...what are the military specs on an MMP 15 without the bolt?
The bolt is secured. PM me for details.

There is a Sizzler lost and found. If you are missing anything not needed...it will be secured until the next Sizzler. If it is needed, contact Shadow to make arrangements.

MortarMan donated 3 very F'n cool caps to be awarded. They were given to the following personnel:

BlackWings...for taking the abuse from us and still keeping his composure.
(Cory, you are a fine young man, and will make an excellent officer. Good luck in all you do, Sir!)

Sgt. Raven...for being an excellent S4 NCOIC. (Paul without you, this event would not have reached the next level...THANKS BROTHER!

Dmeija...for his artistic skills and generosity on the banner, and signs. (Dave, thanks for all you have done. You are a true professional. We will be in contact...THANKS BROTHER!

We quickly transitioned into the flag ceremony. The Chiefs daughter Amanda played the Star Spangled Banner on her clarinet, Shadow gave the ritual speech of why we burn flags, before the 1st of many were burned, and a one shot cannon burst courtesy of RCook. Again, this is a very sobering event which was done in a military manner...Thanks ShadowCop...youdaman!

The drinking light was on, and the festivities began. Somewhere during the drinking we took time out to hold a raffle for APO/Military members in which we awarded the prizes donated by ItalyJumper and MasterBlaster. Here are the winners:

1 ea. OD green patrol cap...ShadowCop.
1ea. rifle case...Jack Frost (aka UCMJ).
1 ea. Black Hawk pack, complete with hydration system...Sgt. Raven.
    1 ea. JumpMaster knife...RH

Jay, and Brian...those prizes were off da hook...THANKS BROTHERS!

We wrapped the night up with great conversation, new friendships made, and lots of cold beverages being consumed.

Sunday morning began the departures...everyone is home and safe.

Every year this event reaches new heights. ShadowCop and I want to thank everyone who showed up for their friendship, generosity, and professionalism...We couldn't think of any better people to be around. Stay safe, and watch your Six!

    RH, and ShadowCop out.

Great rollups and AAR comments from everyone. I couldnt agree more with what everyone has said. Thanks to Shadow and his family for opening up their home for all off us to congregate at. Awesome job on the griddle for you and amazing job to your family on the dinner last night!!! That was some great chow!!

    What an awesome time!!!

To everyone else, It was great meeting you and finally putting names to faces. Hopefully we get to do it soon again. AIRBORNE!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom Line. This was an awesome time where we all got to get together, make some new friends, share the brotherhood, build camaraderie, and just kick back and have a blast. I couldnt have asked for a better group to hang out with, break bread with, and shoot some targets with.

The behind the scenes crew did an amazing job setting everything up. Your hard efforts are tough work was definitely appreciated by all. One thing that was really awesome was that everybody was just getting along, having a great time, and there was zero stress!!

If you have never been to a sizzler, I HIGHLY recommend you try to go to the next one. You will not be disappointed.

And so, as many times before... I sit in a room in Fayetteville post Sizzler. As always, a fantastic time. I'm always both honored and blessed to be included among such a group of people... I used a little different form this time... so enjoy!

Into the heat of a North Carolina summer
comes an event comparing to no other.
Many here know of what I speak,
Attendance is definitely not for the weak.

At the helm of this yearly rendezvous....
Mysterious Shadow, his bride, a Tree Hugger too.
A day at the range...a true southern feast...
All on the schedule on Sizzler eve.
    Enlisted to aid in preparation,
Chief, Angry Artist, dark bird from far nation.

All come by planes, cars, SUVs....
Some trucks, and vans.... and One big ass RV (trailer).
Newcomers greeted and welcomed with gusto.
And coins harken push-ups, one endlessly must do.

Roaming around the AO this weekend
The ladies...the ladies so now let's meet them..
    There's one around we'll call her "N",
Proud para-mama from start to the end.

Moving up to Ms. "K", all preppped and ready...
with antiseptic and bandaids for me.

Back down to "R", need I say more?
She makes the men drool handling weapons galore.

A couple more shout outs...for their bravery..
The first is "L" and next "A" better half to IED(magnet).

Now getting back to the Troopers who gather
Forgive me if I overly blather...

Roaming around with cameras in hand...
RO snaps shots from beginning to end.
    Not forgetting video too..
A video camera he sometimes does use.

Har master mentor for future Rangers,
Master Blaster, Italy Jumper, so many new faces.
Jack and Dave filled up some other new places.

Grill-master P-Chop and the burgers he makes,
    Something about Superman...and venison steaks.

Range Master Ferret, and of course, you 5-0
A few things to say here, "Ya, you betcha, don'cha know"

This Sizzler we learned how a helmet would look,
With .50 Cal blasts...courtesy of rcook.

    OpsNCO always pops in...
Always great to see you for a few moments again.

And last but not least... Rocket1972
Never forget playing cops and robbers...
    between Shadow and you.

I hope I got everyone...and no one was mised.
    If I did, I'm sorry...please don't get pissed.

Another Sizzler in the books...these are my memories.
    The one, and the only...

    Little Sister...

    JE

And one last shout....before I rack out.

Big Al, what can I say?
    Somehow your line got missed.
In the original copy and paste so I'm pissed.
Great to chat and finally meet...
For an Air Force guy you're pretty neat. ;)
Wishin' I were Sizzlin'.... again.... (as always)

If you mean picking up everyone's brass...yes.

But, in my AAR I acknowledged the winner...MasterBlaster, and 2nd place...MM11C.
