    Default Medical Records Amendment

I'm in the process of having sections of my VA medical records deleted that were entered by a doctor that are wrong. I've been told by the VISTA medical records software gurus that they can't be deleted, only hidden. They are then able to be brought up by a "secret" keystroke. I don't trust that nobody except the VISTA gurus only know the secret keystroke. I'm told the VA does this for legal reasons to prove my records were amended per my direction. Anybody know if any of this is true? Thanks kevin

This is why I tell people to obtain then maintain a complete PAPER copy of their military records BEFORE leaving the service!

The record in error is a VA medical record entered 35 years after my discharge. Not entered during my service. Thanks kevin

In 1978 I recieved a disability for Arthralgia which turned up in the VA file as a Bone Disorder. I guess the clerk couldn't spell Arthralgia. This became a major problem for the next 21 years. Va records are never deleted only added to. Doctors in patient visits usually see a screen that goes back three years unless they request further background information. If there is a reason you may get something "blacked out" but VA is a totally different animal from Civilian Medical Services. Good luck! AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!
