I'm not 100% sure but I think the wings on my class A's hanging in my closet are my originals. For me, it's not that big an issue. I know I'm a paratrooper and that's about all that matters. We got pinned on the drop zone by the Golden Knights who jumped in and pinned them on us. That added a little more sentimental value to them but I never thought about it until I got older.
Like Alaskadad said, you used to be able to take subdued wings and remove the black paint and you had a set of silver wings ready to be polished. I did this at that same time period with both my Airborne wings and my Aircrewman wings. My daughter brought me home a set of subdued wings about a year ago and when I tried to strip them down, they were brass colored underneath.

I gave them grandfather who passed away some years ago now, he was cremated and ashes put in SF bay, he was a WWII navy vet and thats what he wanted. My mom now has them sitting on the window sill in the kitchen near the blue star sticker she has in the window. that window is right next to my front door and near the mail box. one time the mail man knocked and said thank you for your families sacrifice. i thought that was cool kinda off topic but hey

Buried on Sicily DZ in honor of some fallen brothers who didn't get to jump anymore.
Mine's MIA. Probably buried somewhere in some box in my garage.

Damn, Chief. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a plaque for attending BAC.
I can't imagine what you've got created for your first day on Staff Duty....

I wish they had that service when I went through....
My certificate is dog eared, faded, and between my Basic certificate and EIB Certificate in a folder in the safe.
Nice, Chief!
You are part of the Resistance.
I still wear mine on my Class A's. Hopefully I can pass them down to someone. Either that or there's gonna be a mighty fine looking corpse sporting some jump wings.
I graduated jump school before the day of the black wings, Feb 1959. Mine are sterling silver and are displayed in my awards and decorations display case. AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!
Mine are in a display case. Over the 3/505 oval. With the unit crest of the units served in.
