Ok, I know the guys are hammering you on education. But I will say this, if you cant hack college, then do what you want. BUT I would definately look into other MOS's that might please you, and by god if you can go AF, THEN GO! I'm not saying they have it easy, but they got ALL the hot girls... ;)

Normally, I'd close the thread at this point, but since some good advice is still being dispensed to the young man, I'm going to let it run a bit longer. Carry on, men.

OK, you're an idiot. You've flip flopped back and forth and you're still full of bullshit with no place to go.

Sit down. Write an Operation Order and do it. You're in a dream world and dragging us into it. I don't appreciate that. Get your mind made up then come back and let us know your progress. You're a wanna be and don't even know what you wanna be.

You are absolutely right, I have no idea what I wanna be or do. Which is why I'm here. If I did this whole process of my life would be a lot easier. I mean no harm by this.
My situation at the moment is
    A: stick with college
B: Take my dads opinion and if I enlist go into the AF
    C: Go Airborne
I take every word of advice in. My dad's co worker who just got out of the army would like to talk to me some time this week about joining. He was able to get college at West point done paid for by the army. Hes going to try to get me in then Ill be able to go airborne once I finish. Hoping to get the best of both worlds.

That's the interesting thing about major life decisions. No matter which one you make, there will always be someone who says "you should've done the other thing"... You'll even find yourself saying it someday. But, look at it this way, you at least have options and choices. Lots of folks don't.

At the end of the day, you can think about it and analyze it for hours, but my advice is to go with your gut. Gut instinct is a level of processing beyond rational analyzing. But if you follow what your gut/heart are telling you, you'll almost end up where you're supposed to be. No matter what choice you make, if you focus on being the best student/airman/paratrooper you can be, you'll be on the right track, no matter where it may lead.

If you do sign up to wear our uniform, be sure and start a thread in the "Military Recruiting" forum. You never know, you might just find yourself a mentor around here somewhere.

I'll leave this open just another day or so, in case anyone else has any advice for the young man. But move quick, this thread is locking up before the weekend is out.

Ops, I believe you've pretty much put the best topper on it. The kid needs to go with his gut. We can breath opinions based on experience as much as we want, but it will only go as far as his ears will allow it. They do, after all, seem to control 50% of the information that makes it to our brain stem.

The only thing I have to reiterate, is that putting on that uniform better be a calculated decision, because you could end up on the line with some of my friends and brothers. I'd appreciate you understanding what you're signing up for and making sure you're ready to put in the work.

Welcome, and good luck with your decision. Lots of good advice here but it is ultimately a personal decision that you have to make as you have to live with the consequences. Tread carefully young man.

You do realize there are highspeed low drag para's in the Air Force right....RIGHT? If you're so set on being an Army Paratrooper then sack up and do it, but there are other options that will still have you falling out of the sky.

Only you can make that decision for yourself.
