    Default Good Job Sheriff

Finally we get some of these scumbags off the street. There are many more of course. Last year they had a major bust and caught a big group of them selling guns and such. This is the news today.http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/cr...s?v=1300264234
Recently I'm sitting in my room and I see a flash of red go by my window. I look and there are two boys in my yard. One came off the front porch. I watched them go next door and then down the street. I call my neighbor down there but they never made it that far and came back my way. There are are no houses across the street or on the right side of me. They came from the woods.
I went and ran back my surveillance camera. One came to the door but before he got there he put his sleeves over his hands and tried the glass security door I have. He then knocked softly. He looked around and saw the camera and left.
I immediately called the Police and the Chief came out. There are only about seven police in this small town. The Sheriffs Dept covers the whole county.
I showed him the recording. He said I know them. I gave him a picture of them on the road I took with my camera with date and time on it.
He went over there and asked them where they were that morning. They said they were in the back yard all the time. He showed them the picture and they said Oh we were looking for our dog.
The Chief told me one of the boys just got out of YDC two weeks before. He was one of the ones who set the JROTC building on fire. $250,000 damage.
He told me he was charging them with criminal tresspass and he also told them you had better be glad we are having this conversation because that man was not going to let you break in his house. Chief and I were in Vietnam in the same time period.
The kids were 14 and 16. The sixteen year old was a big boy and was a good 200 pounds.Dangerous times. My hat is off to the LEO's who do their job professionally and honestly.

    Way to go, bro.

    I love it when they say...it wasn't me...and
whammo...film of them caught in the act!

Glad it didn't go to the next level, and you and
    your family are safe.

Glad you're all right and didn't get their balls blown off, giving them a second chance.
Hope stupid punks will learn something.

My neighbor around the corner said, "I would have confronted them and asked them what were they doing and what do they want" I knew what they were doing and I did what I thought was right. I am not a confrontational person but I will defend myself and family. It could have ended in a different way if I confronted them outside and one of them would have had a firearm. I don't need the hassle of going to court or shooting a teen ager. I always try to be cool and diffuse a situation if possible, violence is a last resort.

Yep. You can be "right" and still end up paying for it.

I think you handled it well.
