Organization Announcement **MANDATORY READ** All Members
SUBJECT: ORGANIZATION ANNOUNCEMENT
To: APO Site Membership
From: “The Paratrooper Association ” Board of Directors and Executive Management
As you may know, ArmyParatrooper.org (APO) recently began to initiate some fundamental changes in the structure and working of the site. Chief among these was the establishment of “The Paratrooper Association ” (TP A ), non-profit organization designed both to run the site and coordinate other efforts “behind the curtain”. At the same time, a set of by-laws , Executive Management and a Board of Directors were established to run the newly formed organization.
Again, as you may already be aware, the reason for these changes is that the site owner hopes to broaden the scope and contribution of the organization of APO and TPA . Although providing a place for you, our Airborne brothers, to congregate (both online and in person), will always be the largest role for APO/TPA , it is also the goal of The Board of Directors and Executive Management that APO/TPA becomes more involved in supporting worthy veteran/military causes, such as the Wounded Warrior Project. We feel that, with our growing national and international membership, we can do more for those who have lost so much in the ongoing Global War on Terror.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, in any endeavor such as this, the “law of unintended consequences” always comes into play. Recently, The Executive Management were advised to establish standardized processes for control and use of the site name, motto and logo. This is to ensure that, as APO/TPA continues to grow both in scope and visibility, any use of the company logo or information reflects well not only upon APO/TPA, but also reflects well on any other associations we may support or become affiliated with.
To that end, The Executive Management must respectfully require that any member or group who wishes to use the site name, logo or motto do so only after obtaining permission from an Executive Management member. As we know that the membership shares the site values and goals, we cannot envision a time in which permission to use site information would be denied, but still must require the prior review by an Executive Officer . This would not only apply to any “one time” activities (i.e. setting up a booth at a veteran’s reunion), but would also apply to any “recurring” activities (i.e. the annual gatherings in North Carolina and Texas). For the recurring/annual activities, review by Executive Management would have to occur every year prior to the activity/event.
We, however, do want to be very clear. We absolutely want you, the site membership, to feel welcome to use the site identifying information, as you are now and always will be, our brothers. All of us who have worn wings and/or went to war for our nation are family here. We could not appreciate more the willingness of the membership to promote the site both individually and in group settings. However, The Executive Managment felt, if it were to continue to successfully grow the site and organization and pursue alliances with worthy veteran’s organizations, it could not ignore this crucial advice.
If you have a need or desire to use any site information (name, logo, motto, etc), please feel free to contact Cal or Skyshark at your convenience. As always, thanks for all that you do to make APO the premier paratrooper-focused social network in existence today.
