WTF is wrong with some people?

Last week I was giving one of my co-workers a break in the OR. Her case was a Whipple and was on the downwind side. I took report and walked around to check things out for myself. The Surgical Tecchnician then dipped her bloody glove in the contaminated irrigation saline warmer, and as I turned around, flicked her fingers in my face! I was speachless (for those who may know me, that possibilty seems remote) but went over to the pt's chart and looked up the History and Physical to see if there was any infecctious diseases I needed to be worried about. Nothing in the H&P, but how many are out there that have something they don't even know about?
So, now I have to go through the next 6 months of HIV, Hepatitis A-C, etc. testing . My wife, not a Medical person, but still very educated and intelligent, is (understandabley) Freaked out! The Tech got suspended but WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE, I ask again?!
In retrospect, she's lucky she has 2, X Chromosomes, and not XY.

Yep, there are some clueless (and even more painful: CARELESS) f*cks around, conceived to live as a red-hot alarming reminder to rest of us.

, but other day there was a wealthy-looking foreigner (RO later couldn't understand a word, as she didn't speak Mandarin, and his English was really bad) with brand-spanking-new bull-barrelled AR-15 out of the factory carton box.
Dude was shooting 8" paper plate from ~15 yards (no sh!t!) with scope, and was all over the target, and beyond.
He arrived when I was already there and took the next stall on my RHS (no hard divider, just a brass catching mesh screen).
Then suddenly he decided to tweak his scope, by turning his rifle 90 degrees towards me (mid-way through his clip; who knows about the safety lever position).

Thankfully, watchful RO yanked him out before I knocked him down.
She said she saw the signs all over, and was hovering near by.

No to #1, no to #2. Still working on what I'm going to do, but a 1 week suspension doesn't seem quite enough to me. Definitely NOT going to let this one go. HH6 is a very educated and smart woman, but right now she is freaking out. I know this is all about bloodborn infection, but didn't go to grandniece's 1st birthday party this weekend; didn't want my nephew and his wife to worry.No one in the family is Medical, so takes awhile to get the info out. All I can say is, this Tech. better be happy she is a she. Got my blood drawn and the pt. is negative, so far, but this is still a 6 month process.
And the saga continues.................

Two things. Well, technically 3, but the first two are related. 1) Battery - both criminal and civil. Any physical contact with another person without their consent qualifies, and specifically includes touching by means of throwing something at someone. Doesn't matter if the person intended to cause harm, just like it doesn't matter if someone intended to trespass on your property; it only matters if they intended to commit the act of touching (or intended to walk onto the ground that turned out to be your property in the case of trespassing). 2) Intentional infliction of emotional distress - generally defined as outrageous conduct by the person with either the intent to cause severe emotional distress or with reckless disregard of the probability that such conduct would cause severe emotional distress. Different states have different standards, but all states acknowledge this tort.

I would suggest contacting a lawyer in your area, because this kind of thing is a big deal.
