....and, when a price is known, and if enough guys are interested to cover the cost, what are the odds of raffling one?
There won't be a cost to cover by the Association. Although we are facilitating this, it will be a private transaction between the individual and the manufacturer. Due to FFL restrictions, I doubt we would run a raffle for one, unless it was to be picked up in person here in TX.

FYI, we're getting closer. I should have some final information in the coming week.

At this point the estimated cost would be approximately $249 for a complete lower. This may change as we get further into production discussions (up or down).
If it turns out to be cool looking (sure it will) I'll get one. Can always use another AR or maybe just slap it under my Colt A2 that I keep around for nostalgic reasons.

Who is making the lower? Mega Arms makes some sweet billet lowers and the lower can have the jump wings engraved into the aluminum of the billet lower. A "friend" who works for the DEA has them manufacturing lowers and uppers with his branding - a grenade!

I am interested in one and will go with the groups decision. However, I don't get the Latin thing, if I had my druthers, I would pick "Got Silk?"

    • Novice Jump wings with "Nex Superne" (Death from Above in Latin) engraved on the magazine well.

And what's the update on getting these things made?

Depending on the manufacturer, and the ability to scratch the cash together, I am interested in the basic/death from above.

I guess the idea has died?

I guess this would be an alternative to buying a complete weapon. Get the lower now and find an upper to my liking later. I am interested but the lower would have to be complete. I have enough trouble changing the blades in my razor, much less putting the guts in an AR lower.

That's because you're an old fart!

Seriously though, I am still waiting. Some company, founded by some ex-rangers on facebook, ranger something or another are doing it for the rangers.
