Was a sad day indeed. I was living in FL when it happened and watched this first person. RIP.

I watched it on tv as it happened.

Rest in Peace. I was in a camp in Prudoe Bay, Alaska about to leave for a convoy trip out onto the Artice Ocean ice.

Was getting a purchase order from the Cumberland Co.Sheriff's Dept. in Fayetteville in order to buy a new handgun. Watched the replay on their TV. Later watched President Reagan speak to the nation from the company dayroom. I don't think much got done that day at Ft.Bragg.

Here's something to make you FOG's feel old.

I actually remember the Challenger explosion. I was in the first grade and home from school with the chicken pox. I went to McDonald's for lunch (drive thru) and ate while we watched the shuttle launch. I used to watch every shuttle launch whenever I could.

I had a happy meal and the toy was a Grimace Sponge. I actually recall that.

Strange how you remember things. A couple years later I played for the "Christa McAuliff" Braves in Little League. Some private citizen sponsored the team and named it that.

I'm in the boat with you Brother, I was in 3d grade. I remember I was in P.E. playing dodgeball when it happened.....

Strange you can remember stuff like that from what seems like forever ago.

I had just graduated high school and (with my best friend) was signed up in the DEP, waiting to ship out on 4 Feb. He had broken his ankle (causing him to wait and go in a year after me), and we pulled into the ER, and saw it on the TV in the waiting room.

I was a Senior in 1986 and we were out of school that day because of a huge Snow storm, there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground that day. And a few hours later my Great Grandfather passed he was 93.

I was at a local Youth Center getting ready to go to School that day when the turned the TV on to watch the Launch, watched the whole thing happen live, think School let off early because of it, that or I just didn't go.

I also remember the launch of the Columbia, we were given the day off from school to watch it at home
