Default Army Major Gets 5 Yrs. for Taking Bribes

    See ya dumbass!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A U.S. Army officer who pleaded guilty to taking bribes in exchange for awarding contracts to foreign companies has been sentenced to five years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Christine M. Arguello handed down the sentence for 45-year-old Maj. Roderick Sanchez on Wednesday in Denver.
Prosecutors sought a minimum of seven years in prison for Sanchez, who served in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. Sanchez's attorneys, however, asked Arguello to take the major's military service into consideration, in deciding his sentence.
Sanchez must also give up two Rolex watches, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a pickup truck, real estate in Fremont County and other property. He was fined $15,000 and will be supervised for 3 years after his release.
Court documents haven't revealed the nature or value of the contracts. The foreign nationals are identified as Person A and Person B. Their companies aren't named.

Not saying that this guy was in any way right, but if they went to all of this trouble to expose what he.....a member of the armed services.....did, then why wont they give the names of the companies who offered the bribes? Sounds kind of wrong to me, like we are woried about upsetting someone. I say expose them as well.

There are only two reasons to not name the offending companies.

1.) This thing goes higher than a Major and he's just taking the fall. Whether those people in high places are Americans or Foreigners.
2.) The US Government is a wholly owned subsidiary of whatever companies are involved.

If the acceptor's name is fit to publish, so are the offerers.

The third option is that there is evidence that this kind of bribery is widespread, and there is an ongoing investigation by the Justice Department which would be compromised by releasing the names of Person A and Person B. What remains is that he accepted $200,000 in bribes and got what he deserved.

Persons A and B tend to be identified as such when they are cooperating fully with the investigation or when they themselves have been indicted.

His lawyers asked the judge to take his military service into consideration ? WTF . It was during that very "military service" that the crimes took place . Military service facilitated his ability to commit those crimes . So I guess that the next time some perv kidnaps a kid his lawyer will ask for leniency since he was babysitting the child . All lawyers need to be ballast on target vessels .

    I'd go with your explanation.
He may have been rolled because of other cases that have been prosecuted, and they will be prosecuting these cases for a long time.
Contracting in Kuwait got so bad they started bringing AF and Navy folks to unfuck it-that's when all the wrong doings were discovered.

Completely understand that they may still be digging, and that they need to protect their assets until they are finished. I just hope that they don't forget to go back and finish the business they started. This is certainly a black eye on the face of the military.

I loved the quote AK Airborne!!! Respectfully request permission to use that one some time.....lol.

Well he did try to roll from the beginning to get a reduced sentence, but the information he gave turned out to be inconsistent and apparently nothing more than rumors that have been floating around for a while. Still, there is more of this going on, and since we don't know what other grand juries may be sitting right now for potential indictments relating to bribery in government contracts, this would be my best guess as to the use of Person A and Person B.
