Was never in it, but do remember a E-5 who I think was there. He was in a Ranger class about 1989? He was the first real-live eskimo I ever met. That rang a bell?

I was from 97 to 2001 while they were in Darmstadt. April 17th 2007 was when they deactivated.

This wass shortly after I left Eco.

I don't remember any Eskimos. I was at the deactivation in Darmstardt. A sad day.

I was in Eco 51st from '89-'92. I think Lirios was an eskimo and in Eco around that time period.

The Ranger in question had to be none other than Rick Best. Best spent about 8 months at Ranger school

I knew Lirios was a long shot, and never went to Ranger school while I was there. You are correct about Best.

Do us a favor Brother, head on over to the intro section, and throw one up. It's all the rage... following the rules and all.

I was looking at the unit level and have gathered what I needed. I was just curious since the Army seems to be doing away with the LRS or so it seems. I was on top of it until the war started and that is not a time when you can find out much due to OPSEC. I also felt it may have had the lineage from one of the Nam LRP units. If a LRS unit is assigned the lineage from one of the Nam LRP units OR is serving in one of the units that was in Vietnam as a LRS unit IE: They are the LRS for the 25th ID but they do not have their lineage from a Nam LRP unit, they are still authorized to join the 75 RRA....I read a good report from SGM Robert Saiz which was probably done when he was at the SGM Academy since it was the reactivation and build up from Sep 86- Nov 89, he was an 11B3V when they started it in 86 which was well written and I can understand the BS they had to go through but they winded up doing dam well.

Then it was deactivated in 1991. And at some point (date unk) it was reactivated as Co F (LRS), 51st Infantry, 525th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC, until it was reorganized and reflagged on 15 March 2009 as Troop C (LRS), 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade.

Then the last thing I read was Company F is currently serving as the anti-tank element of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division. Company F is operating the M1134 Anti-Tank variant of the basic Stryker system. (date of this is unk). I also looked up the 75 RRA info and found out it was on one of the units logos on top like we have the 1st RGR Bn since it was assigned our lineage when it was activated in 1974 ( C Company (Ranger) 75th Infantry (Abn) First Field Force Vietnam) “CHARLIE RANGERS”. So the 1st RGR BNs Scroll is on top of our LRP then RGR Scroll and were dam proud of that since out of the 14 units like ours who served in the Nam ours was picked to have its lineage assigned to the first Ranger Battalion formed since WWII. Since Korea had Ranger Companies.

I’m enclosing a picture of the unit logo. I think I have most all the histories but I’m in the middle of trying to clean up and transfer all my info into my new iMAC so I have a lot of info on two external hard drives plus I’m attempting to work with both computers at once sometimes so it is rough trying to locate info fast…..I guess what I need to know is are they still an active LRS unit?
