Welcome to the DZ. One question in my mind and if it is none of my business just say so. Why 11 years for such a gung ho beginning? AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!![]()
@Geronimo... Death of a close friend... Oct 5. 1985, I never completely recovered from it. Got out. Though I was the shit in college. I should have stayed in.
I want to thank you all for your kind and warm welcome. Up until recently I haven't really talked about my military service to anyone. It's been 20+ years. I feel like I have a home now on the internet.
If you are on Facebook, I started a group there... "Moategators." Check it out! Its open to all. Oh... and by the way. I am not that fuckhead "Fred" who posted "we were called moatengators". I read his intro and the threads... Hahaha!
AATW! RLTW!
AATW. I see you are now verified. You get to do all the secret squirrel stuff now in the SF room![]()

Yes! Its kind of cool be "verified." I'll look around! It kind of makes all the shit I went through seem more real! ;) Like I said before, I haven't really talked about my service until recently. My truths don't compete with the lies of all the Posers out there... and in the last 20 years, I've met far too many of them. But APO seems like a good place to get reconnected. I'm grateful for that.
Yeah I know what you mean. I know 2 troopers on here personally from being in the same unit back in the day but what makes it great is that we are all like-minded individuals. The civilian sector (with a few exceptions) does not know what it is like to have a common bond.

Welcome and thank you for your service!
Hey Yeah! Welcome and stay awhile! Be sure to get your shots and not to accept candy from anyone in a van without windows. Don't eat anything off the floor after more than three seconds here either. You'll do fine........
Hey shadowcop92,
I knew Paulino well. He kind of considered me his personal medic whether he was 2nd Platoon's platoon SGT or Weapons platoon. If he was ever assigned another medic, he come looking for me and swap me for whoever he was stuck with. He's put me on a mortar team and make me send some down range we went to the jungla too. He wouldn't let me slack off. When his reserve accidently deployed and he jumped/got sucked out over the Chagris, I ended up with the pilot chute to that reserve. I still have it today. We also went out drinking a bit together at the Ovalo.
Yeah... I knew Paulino. He was treated me like I was the best damn doc he ever had. Many had their opinions. I admired and respected him. I wrote a book that I'm working to get published. Part of it includes my years in the military. I have a couple of Paulino stories in it! ;)
Moatengators Raah! (but I'm not that fuckhead Fred!) lol!
