One of SAs most experienced military parachutists died yeaterda7y practising for an airshow which took place today. Brian Slade, a member of The Golden Eagles, the SANDF exhibition team died when he collided with the horizontal tail stabilizer of a C47 Dakota aircraft on exit. Yes. He was airforce, but often on the SADF Skydiving Team. He had over 6000 jumps and jumped for about 35 years.
We await the results of the autopsy and Board of Enquiry as it seems as though pilot error may have cause the accident. We now have many Affirmative Action pilots who otherwise wouldnt make the grade.
