Sweet! F-35 Does an Incredible Loop at Takeoff

    F 35 Does Loop at Takeoff….

A supremely well-trained US Navy pilot, ice running in his veins instead of blood, fully regains control of his $70 million, F-35, joint strike force fighter, after a problematic vertical take-off attempt. Watch as the rear vertical thruster fires to cause the problem.

AN UNINTENDED LOOP AT TAKEOFF. ONE OF THE BEST AIRCRAFT VIDEOS EVER!

There's nothing about this the pilot enjoys. If he could have ejected at 100' upside down and lived, he would have. Looks like the afterburner kicks in while still vectored for vertical takeoff. Lockheed would call this a "software malfunction" and do a little more "regressive testing".

Good demonstration of power-to-weight ratio of this aircraft! And talk about stability control ... If he didn't come out of the loop wings-level, probably would have been bad news; maybe taking some of the carrier with him!

Add to this flying through your own exhaust - can lead to equipment malfunctions, too! ... As in "flame out".

The F-35 is single engine with vertical take off/landing capability but at zero airspeed it has the aerodynamics of a Steinway piano. This is the most unbelievable piece of flying you will ever see in your life.

I'll fly with this guy Anytime

Perhaps you all know this, but in case you dont...A pal of mine, General Dick Lord, a South African Airforce officer, wrote the training manual for your Navy Top Gun School. Aftert the Korean War, your airforce was worried about the undeserved success the Russian Migs were having against the superior American made Super Sabres and other jets of the time. Your armament and technology was superior to the Russians, but the Korean pilots were doing quite well. SA had a squadron out there, the Cheetah Squadron, which specialised in close quarter dogfights, something Americans had neglected because of the increasing use of missiles in a stand-off role. Dick Lord, a Captain at the time, was asked by the Americans to have a look at the fighter training of the Navy fliers. He went out to America, somewhere in the dessert I think, and put together a training programme for the navy pilots. They liked what he did so much, that he was asked to write the first training manual for the new Top Gun School.Dick is retired now and spends his time writing books about his days in the SAAF and the RAF.
That which is not forbidden, is compulsory.

Well as impressive as it is I am displeased to find out that it is possibly a hoax. (Insert boot on pole with rope attached for kicking your own ass. "Merry Melodies cartoon Style)

This video, purportedly depicting a real F-35 jet recovering from a potentially disastrous flip during a vertical takeoff, circulates via email and is also popular viewing on video website YouTube. Messages that accompany the video claim that it is real footage of an F-35 takeoff mishap on board an aircraft carrier and praise the amazing skill of the Navy pilot who managed to save himself and the aircraft after the potentially fatal flip.

However, the video does not show a real aircraft and does not depict an actual incident. In fact, the video is a capture from the popular video game "Battlefield 2". The rather unrealistic depiction of the aircraft carrier - not a single crew member is in view on deck - is one indicator that the video does not depict an actual incident. Contrast the following shot of a real aircraft carrier with the sparse view shown in the video:

Thanks Guy, I always wondered how Top Gun got started. I had already heard about our neglect of dogfighting training..

Too bad it's not real. BTW- The STOVL version of the F-35 (F-35B) will be a Marine Corps jet. Navy version (F-35C) will have larger wings then the A and B models.

Top Gun is in Fallon Nevada about 20 miles from my house. Fallon Naval Air Station. NAS. Cracks me the fuck up for the permanent party out there. They join the Navy to see the world and they get stuck in the middle of the fucking desert in Nevada. BWAHAHAHAHAHA
