Default When I was into Black Powder Weapons

Way back in the 70's I was heavy into Black Powder Weapons. The Pic is some that I made from kits. I couldn't afford the finished weapons. Now I can't even afford the kits. There are both flintlocks and percussion weapons.

Nice pics. I am into traditional black powder weapons, but not all geeked out like most of the idiots I work with. I don't do the reenacting thing, so mine are all used for hunting. Oh....and I don't own any flintlocks, I leave that stuff for Davy Crockett.

I should make clear, the photo was taken in 1979 and I no longer have any of the weapons. The bottom rifle is a .50 cal Hawken. Hard hitting weapon, I wish I still had that one.

Yeah, they were fun to shoot, but a real pain in the ass to clean. My kids were raised on Black Powder weapons. They still talk about going to the range with Dad and shooting black powder guns. My youngest was the best shot - a Girl. She now hunts with her Husband who is a former Marine and she usually out guns him.

I use a Hawken .50 traditional for hunting during muzzle loading season here in VA. No scopes, powder cakes, sabots...........just me, the powder horn, some round ball, patches, and caps.

I've got a T/C .50 cal Hawken and some cap and ball pistols.

This thread has motivated me to bring 'em out, dust 'em off, and make smoke.

    Thanks!

    Damn Recon133,

I didn't know you fought in the American Revolutionary war! I knew you were a FOG but damn!
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."

Thomas Paine, volunteer in the Continental Army in his The American Crisis.

Which for some strange reason reminds me of the woman who went to her doctor to complain that every time she sneezed, she had an orgasm.

"Good grief!" exclaimed her doctor. "That must be exhausting."

"You said it," she replied, "I could barely drag my ass in here to tell you about it."

"So," the doctor asked, "Are you taking anything for this?"

"No," she said, "Nothing but the black pepper..."

    Bada BOOM...
