    Default Intro-Veggiebone

    Hello Paratroopers,

Name's Matt, from Fort Bragg. I'm a DEPer with an 11x Airborne contract set to ship on March 31, 2010. After a few years of College, I am rather excited to finally take that step into the military. Immediate goal is to get stationed at Fort Richardson with the 4/25th, but will be perfectly happy if I get to the 173rd or coming back here to be with the 82nd. Future goal is to go for SFAS. Looking forward to the learning from the information on the boards.

Good luck to you and feel free to peruse the recruiting forums and the other pertinent information. Be sure to search diligently before asking questions as most of it has been addressed.

Now go PT your ass off before you ship.

Will do VoTrooper99. Aside from work, I have been doing little but. I was 3 lbs over the limit when I enlisted, so I know I have work to do. Glad to say that won't be an issue when I return to MEPS to ship, but I wan't to be the absolute best shape I can be by that time. My goal, and I don't think it's to much, is to lose another 12 lbs and get down to 170.

12 lbs. in a month and a half? You're going to have to do more than a little. If you are squarely under the weight restrictions worry less about how much you weigh and more about how far you can run and how fast. How many pushups/situps/pull-ups you can do.

I've seen some guys in this man's Army that didn't look like much but they could smoke your short hairs off in a distance run. It's not a beauty contest, it's about performance.

You make a solid point, thanks. The whole story is that a week before MEPS I was 196. I'm 69.75" so the limit is 185. That was 4 weeks ago. So the weight is flying off. I suppose the smart thing to do is focus on my strength and endurance and just have the weight loss happen, or not happen, as it will. Thanks for the reality check.

Welcome to the site. You're live at Bragg, huh? You'll, sure as hell, either end up back home...or in Thule, Greenland.

There you go. Best advice you'll probably get.

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Run, Run, Run and PT your ass off if you want to be one of America's finest; that way at least you'll be a little prepared for what awaits you in training.
