    Default 2010 AAW?

    Few questions regarding AAW 2010...
Has anyone heard if AAW (All American Week) is a go or not for May 2010?
If it's a go, who from this site is going?
Where is the best place to stay that won't cost too much?
Anyone heading down from the north... on a motorcycle?
I have a bud that want's to ride with me from Saratoga County, NY and go to this event. He's an active duty Leg and want's to know if this event is open to all or does he have to be Airborne qualified. (I've never been to AAW, so I wasn't able to answer his question).

    Thanks!

It's currently not on the 82d Association's calendar, but that may not mean anything. I haven't heard any official announcement that it's been cancelled, but I think in year's past the announcement came later in the year. I'll bet Mortarman11C knows.

Unless it's changed, it used to be open to the public. Although if I were a leg, I'd probably wear civilian clothes.... (insert missing smiley here....)

So far AA Week is still a go. The Panther Association will be sponsoring the Panther Picnic for the 3BDE again this year irregardless of it canceling or not. Since the Brigade is back, the picnic will be huge! Last year it was mostly spouses and kids. Plenty of free food, and beer. YES FREE BEER!

So hopefully you can make that....AA Week Wednesday. Legs come at their own risk.....

But if you never been, it's a blast.

As we get closer, I'll give anyone interested my digits and we can do a linkup. P-Chop you coming back down for the Panther Picnic??

As far as hotels, a web search in the Fayetteville area will pretty much cover the gamut of chains.....

I haven't been back to Bragg since I left in '73. I've been telling the HH6 we need to go for the last 20 years. By god, if it's on and I got enuff coin floating, I will be there, and would even give thought to buying any APO yay-hoos I meet up with some liquid refreshment.

(And uh, yeah, that means you might only get a canteen cup of tap water out of me, but hell, you can put anything in that you want to make it taste better.)
We were the kids who would jump off a bridge if our friends did it.

There will still be an AAW but with most of Division still in the 'Stan I'm not sure how deep it will be. I've only had to be in one and that was back in '08 when the President came through but that was enough for me. That Division review and practice is as bad as any 20K I've ever been on but I was glad to have been in THAT one. I'll be in KaKorea sporting a black beret by May though (insert disgusted smiley).

I work at the Wingate by Wyndham off Sycamore Dairy Rd (next door to the Mash House where we offer 15% off). I can't quote any prices but it's a good place to stay!

I will say this-if you book through me and say you're on APO I can give you the per diem rate (whatever that may be at the time-it seems to go up every year)

If you can get up in the morning, suck it up-it's going to be a good day

    Cool Re: 2010 AAW?

Thanks for all the feedback... I'm gonna make this one even if most of the Division is deployed and even if my Leg buddy backs out. Hell, I have not set foot on Bragg ground in 37 years and if I don't do it soon, I may not get another chance!
I'll be there... with COIN(s) and Road King Classic

If the 505th has the Gavin Squad competition this year, I plan to attend. Hit_it is supposed to keep me posted.

Why not set this as a 2010 meet & greet for all APO members! Hell, I couldn't think of a better location for Paratroopers to drink a few beers and throw some bull-shit around. We can ask "rmwcotton" to get everyone a good rate at the Wingate. Regardless, I'm gonna be there and if anyone else is gonna ride from the Northeast on a motorcycle, let me know... I've stayed there I think. Did it used to be a Marriot, or is that one driveway down? The Mash House is a great place for beer lovers!!

Why tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at deaths door?
