Not really my business, however I am on the last quarter of a book written about Blackwater, from start to finish, how it came about, it's growth, etc.. quite an eye-opener. The journalist who wrote the book doesn't have a lot of good to say about them. In the book is also mentioned Executive Outcomes which was our own little private army. SA has legislation which now prohibits SA Citizen's from serving in any armed force anywhere in the world bar our own. Naturally Guy Mullins and I knew some of the Executive Outcomes "operators" and while I cannot comment on their conduct, many were and are first class soldiers.

Ignoring the good or bad, I am not sure that I could hire myself out in a combat situation, but then again I do not know the circumstances of those that do. So, no judgement is made other than to say if it wasn't Blackwater it would have been someone or something else.

Executive Outcomes ended a civil war. They did what nobody else could do.

Eric Prince, the founder of Blackwater is currently living in Abu Dhabi, supposedly because it is a non-extradition country. Many of Blackwater's current and former executives have been arrested on weapons trafficking and for over-billing the government.

I worked with Blackwater a few times in Iraq. I was never crazy about giving civilians guns and little to no supervision. It was an idea destined for disaster from the start. Sometimes a job best accomplished by the military should be left to the military.

I know a few guys who contract down range. Most of them are NG SF guys, lots of big boy rules, but from what guys are telling me, BW is slowly turning into a "conventional mode". Guys who can adapt will stay and others will go elsewhere.

There are many members of the SF forum down the street that don't care too much for BW and Erik Prince. They typically have a few choice words for him. They are not called BlackWater anymore either, I think it is Xe.
