Default M203 Replacement Undergoing Field Testing

I loved my M203. It was one of the best ways for an infantryman to reach out and touch someone....

FORT BRAGG, NC –The barrels were hot in the Army's charter fielding of the new M-320 grenade launcher at Range 23 here, as paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division fired the weapons for the first time.

Paratroopers of soon-to-deploy 1st Brigade Combat Team received familiarization training on the shorter-but-heavier advanced grenade launcher from a half-dozen civilian and Army trainers.

I loved my 203, in spite of the extra weight. The added firepower was a good thing. I'd love to try one of these new grenade launchers out.

I don't know... Seems like having a tube mounted under a functioning rifle is a better idea.

According to the article, you can marry it with the M4. Apparently, it'll work either way; as part of the rifle, or as a stand alone weapon.

Loved the M203.....hated the 203 vest! It was a hot sumbitch! Heavy too when all loaded up.

In '94 while gearing up for a Haitian Vacation, I misunderstood when drawing ammo and went through the M-16 line then the M203 line. Come to find out, the M203 line gave you both. I wasn't allowed to turn back in. I also was carrying the useless 9mm Parabella. On top of that I was RTO and after getting everything loaded into the ruck, LBE, and vest........I was going to have to be dragged to the door and thrown out the plane! This 130lb PFC was Commando'd out and ready for some shit, if only he could move when he hit the ground.....of course, Uncle Jimmy C. fixed that shit!

Would love to hear what current Joes think of this possible replacement.

    You've convinced me.

Send me two for immediate testing, including 100x each variety of shell.

I never could hit shit with the M203. It's the only weapon that ever confounded me. I shot in the top 5% with everything else I could get my hands on.

So, Hell Yeah! Time for something new in my opinion.

    Slacker!

Seriously, you definitely had to throw a lot of rounds downrange to get proficient. After a couple of good training cycles I finally got the hang of it. Never took that crappy bolt on sight they provided, just used the stand up ("leaf spring"?) on the front of the rifle and used Kentucky windage. Just like Avon calling......

It took me a few years with the 203 to get it down. I sucked at the quadrant sight but I could lay waste with the leaf sight. I found that if I held my magazine with my left hand and pulled the trigger with my left instead of trying to wrap my right hand around, I could hit shit.
When I tried using my right, I would cant the rifle and throw my shots off to the right.
Its a fun toy when you get your system down.
When I went to JOTC and we went to the ranges I had just figured it out and I was fucking some targets up with HE!

Loved the 203 too, hated the training rounds though, always got caught by the wind too much. But HE they had enough weight and flew a lot straighter.

I only carried the M203 That was my weapon of choice, I could stick it through a window or into any hole in range. And those practice rounds break legs.

The trigger on my m203 was a bitch to pull, hated the fuckin thing. On range one day every time I pulled the trigger round would be short of target. So I aim that prick way up in thr air, round hits up in a tree behind the stand up targets.Tree branches come down and knock over all the targets.Everybody on range is laughing their asses off, except the range Officer he's just staring at me with this what the fuck look on his face. Now the M-79 they where sweet.
