Hello Kyle and welcome. Your competitive spirit and accomplishments will serve you well no matter what branch you choose. I would suggest you look through the posts here where paratroopers from several generations and all parts of the world refer to each other as "brothers" and then attempt to find such a lifelong camraderie in other military occupations. There's more to a military experience than simply when you are living it; there can also be the fellowship you carry for the rest of your life.

I agree! They'll try the old "Sign now and you'll get your school later" just to get you in. Don't let them win that one - only sign when the school is specified on the contract.

Welcome young man...Here is a video that sums it up nicely about the Airborne. It is a little dated ( no tanks now ) but will give you a good idea.

WELCOME TO THE SITE........IF YOU REALLY want to be a PARATROOPER, then you need to know what the AF has and the Army has for ENLISTING for a unit that has to be a PARATROOPER to be in.

The AF has the ParaRescue (which is a highly trained Medic) that must
go to jump school, sometimes SCUBA and if your not a water freak, forget it. It also has the Combat Controllers who have to go to jump school, HALO and advanced airborne tng since they set up drop zones and landing strips. I do not think you can enlist for these jobs, they will tell you that you can request it once your in, but chances are slim to get it for a few years.

The Army has many more options and you can enlist for them....to be continued

    Welcome, young man!

First, let me add my admiration for the competitive spirit that your accomplishments demonstrate. This will serve you very well in the years to come. The military, and I trust you'll have the wisdom to choose Army, you will have numerous opportunities to attend training/specialized education classes. If you use that competitive drive to be number one in these opportunities, you will find that the honor graduate of any course is often able to write his own ticket to further advancement. Promotion and pay, chances to go places and do things that are not open to the middle of the pack, things like that are the rewards you can expect.

    Welcome again.

    You are sadly mistaken.

This lad is obviously Airborne Field Artillery material!

Why shoot something with a rifle when you could just blow it up?

    I rest my case.

    What are LEGS???

    Low Energy Ground Sloths

    Lacking Enough Guts

Historically referenced as supporting structure for a chickens' ass.

The fucking AirForce is full of 'em.

    Welcome young man.

You said you played Football and ran Track.

If you had played Tennis and Volleyball, the Air Force would be a good choice.

Since you didn't, run, don't walk to your nearest Army recruiter, give him the same introduction, and tell him you want 11B Option 40.
