Default They wanted to put cherry pies in my cargo pockets...

Well not really but I did get my cherry blast jump today. I survived SERE and finally made it to Ft. Bragg and started my in processing last week. Basically waiting to start language school. We had a jump today at St Mere and I was on chute detail, borrowed an ACH and made it on. Of all the things to jump it was a Casa and we jumped MC-6s. Apparently that's almost all of what SWC jumps lol. I called my old squad leader who is on his way back to Bragg and he said that shouldn't even count (he came from the 82nd) lol. Man, I'm starting to like this Army (USASOC) very chill and relaxed. A lot different than what I'm used to.

So you're telling us that your cherry blast was a daylight hollywood out of a Casa?

I'd tell you congratulations, but I'm too damned jealous.

Mine was a battalion N-MT-CE over Sicily. I'd still be walking the wrong way to the turn in point if I hadn't ran into someone who took pity on me.

Yeah I guess I'm lucky (or deprived depending on how you look at it). It was fun but I was pretty nervous until I got out of the bird, I had no idea what to expect. I can't imagine having to do a night mass tactical as my 6th jump. Hell I can't even imagine doing it at all. From what I've been hearing, the only time someone even jumps CE is to meet pre-reqs for jumpmaster school or something like that.

Yep, I still remember trying to get my stuff together as we went through the commands and thinking "what the hell have I gotten myself into?". As many on here can attest, it'll put some hair on your chest pretty quick.

Of course, you do get used to it. It's amazing how quick it can become fairly routine after a training cycle or two.

Congrats, man. (I'm over my jealousy for the moment.)

My "Cherry Blast" on Bragg was out of a Huey at 2k and it was Hollywood!

Then my "Cherry Blast" with the '08 was a CE down in Panama jumping a M-60, barrel bag, C-rats, ammo, LBE, ALICE, canopy lights, grid squares, etc.... And I was first in the Door! The only blessing was it was daylight!

Congrats on getting your cherry jump, Big step. My Cherry was a CE out of a good ole C-119. Just 5 days after graduating from JS.

Lucky dog. That must've been nice.

It was just a day or two after arriving to the 325 when they put all of us cherries on a chaplain's jump - which was weapon and LBE only out of a 130. Cake.

I know a fair number of joes whose cherry blast was the Panama jump. Everyone got a kick out of that.

I worded that incorrectly. I don't personally know the cherry blasters who made the combat jump but I know it is a fact there were a number of cherry privates on those two jumps (Rio Hato & Torrijos / Tocumen).

We had more than one in just my unit.

That's quite a story to have.
