I was on another site the other day and saw that there was a gentleman who retired as a CSM. I also saw that he was at Ft Campbell when I was there and he was also a Black Hat. I contacted him, and over the last couple of days,I have learned a lot of interesting things.
I have invited him over to this site but I don't know if he will come or not. I will say he is one hell of a writer and had a career to be envied. He is one year older than me but a hundred times smarter. His health is not very good right now, which is sad. These are the units he served in on jump status.

Units/Dates +Comments:Oct 55 - May 58 - Co "F" 188th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell and Augsburg, Germany (jump status)

April 60 - May 62 - 2nd Airborne Battle Group, 187th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, and Jump School Instructor, Fort Campbell (jump status)

June 62 - April 66 - 8th Infantry Division Headquarters (jump status), Bad Kreuznach, Germany

May 66 - August 68, 101st Airborne Division (jump status) - Ft Campbell and Vietnam

Feb 69 - Oct 70 - Airborne Department, Ft. Benning (jump status)

May 72 - April 73 - First Sergeant of U.S. Army Infantry Board, Ft. Benning (jump status)

He also sent me his memoirs from his time in the Pentagon with SMA Dunaway. It is long but very interesting.

Damn the man stayed on jump status his whole career, I wonder how many jumps he has. It would be great to have him hear.

I have about three or four emails from him so far. Just got one a few minutes ago. I would post the ones I have so far but I don't know if it is the right thing to do. You guys would really appreciate and be surprised at what he wrote. The guy is absolutely amazing. He is heading to Benning in the morning the 13th to bring his mother for some tests at the Hospital.

I would really like to meet him. I served with CSM George W. Dunaway in the 1st Special Forces Group on Okinawa. He was the second SMA and, to my mind, the best. He was a great CSM and easy to get along with. He loved his cigars.
