    Default Sandi Root

In doing the genealogy of my family I learned that a cousin was killed due to action on D-Day or the day after. He was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne:

PFC Allan M. GOOD; ID number 16172230; hometown, Chicago. He actually died on June 24, which means he was hospitalized either in Europe or the U.S before he died. He is buried in Chicago.

I would like to learn more details of his participation in D-Day; where he was when he was injured; the type of injury he sustained; and where he was hospitalized before his death. Where would I go for this sort of detailed information?

    Thank you for your help.

    Welcome to our Drop Zone.

Do you know what particular unit he was assigned to? 505th, 508th, 507th, 319th, etc.

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/mil...e-records.html Try this addt. You have his service number so should not be a problem. GL

Thank you for the suggestion. I will search the link. Unfortunately, I am not next-of-kin, only a cousin on a genealogy quest so the rest of the family might learn about his participation and sacrifice when he was needed. It bothers me that the most recent generations in our family no nothing about PFC Allan M. Good, and why he was unable to live out his life.

It shows good character on your part to take the time to try to find out. If you do, please share what you learn with us.

After all, he was a member of our family as well.

Do you have any memorabilia of his time in service? Pictures? Medals? Diaries? letters? Those will be a big help in finding out his exact service units etc.

No, I have seen nothing of his except his beautifully kept resting place in Chicago. Wish it were otherwise. Thank you for asking.
