I am going to have to heap some praise on this fucker.

As a recruiting station commander, I RARELY meet someone this dedicated to enlisting.

Usually, some fuckhead comes in, gets DQ'd (usually because they run their mouths and give a complete medical history to the MEPS Doc, ranging from the scrape on the knee to when they had bronchitis, broke their neck, whatever) and then disappears instead of getting me all of their med docs to submit a med read and get a waiver.

I've had a few that were DQ'd for whatever reason, then I spent around a year getting them in, called them, and said "If you come in tomorrow, you will join the Army the next day," and that kid was in my office thirty seconds later with his bags packed.

This kid is one highly motivated guy, and shame on the military if he doesn't get in.

On the otherhand, if the military lets you in and you fuck it up and don't make it, I will terminate you.

    That is all.

As updated a few posts ago, I passed my ASVAB after many study hours being put in. Our SEAL motivator was speaking to us recently. He asked, "why do you want to be a SEAL?". He also said that he can get a very good estimate on who's gonna make it and who isn't purely off the responses. I've received some PM's regarding this whole process and why I want to do it. While all that should matter is that I'm doing it, I'm not doing it for enlistment bonuses, college funding, prestige, honor. Those are all generally part of the package. However at this point, I've been told by many that my dream is impossible, I've been told to change objectives, to wake up to "reality". Well reality hase not told me it's impossible to get it, "reality" has only shown it will be harder than the average enlistee. I want to push myself beyond what I think I'm made of, I want to set new boundaries, I want to truly experience the "never quit" philosophy I've been working on so strictly for the past 2 1/2 years of enlistment. After years of hard work, money, dedication, Im nearing my goal. I want this, because I want a challenge. I've set a goal and I'll never quit what I've begun. I'm almost there. I want to be a special operations soldier for the purpose of seeing what I'm truly made of. Never, ever quit.

Update: I took the CSORT pysch evaluation test. Evidently I'm pretty "sane" by scoring a 4, the highest you can score. This brings doubt to my mind in regards to the department of defense's knowledge in test creation. Regardless, I'm another step forward. The only thing left, is to get the specs ops medical waiver. However, there's a pickle. You cannot get a spec ops waiver without being DEP'ed into the Navy with a job, in addition, you cannot get into the Navy right now unless you are going SEAL. So, I can't get my waiver without being a DEP, but I can't be a DEP without being a SEAL candidate. So they're going to try and get me a job in some shape or form next week so that I can get the waiver started for SEAL. The other option is to put in an unusual circumstances request waiver. It basically waives some procedures due to special circumstances that are in the best interests of the Navy. I'd say this is in very good in recognition of Naval benefit. Never quit.

Sitrep: I was arbitrarily contacted by my congressman whom I tried contacting a few months ago regarding changing my Army RE:code to fully medical. The process of changing is actually en route with the Army Discharge Review Board, they will write me back sometime this month with a conclusion. I'm confident that I have irrefutable evidence supporting my argument that my discharge was fully medical and not performance-related. My final separation counseling statement, done by my senior drill sgt, the man who recommended my ELS, CLEARLY states "this ELS in NO way poorly reflects on the soldier's performance to date, and is specifically because of his medical condition." If this gets changed, the Army can have me contracted far quicker than the Navy. Here's where I'm at, if I get this Army option and the BUD/S option is gone, I feel like I've matured both mentally and physically to a better level. I would feel more compelled to attain an 18x special forces contract this time, as I'll be turning 20 soon. If I cannot get Option:40 or 18x because of my medical waiver, I'll instead take the 11x rout and prove my abilities in basic training. I'm in better condition now than I was during OSUT graduation, I also know the entire process very well. While I wait for the Navy's Spec Ops waiver, and the Army's RE:code change, I will continue to focus and train hard. The SEAL training program I'm on is mutual to Ranger's and Special Forces, so I will stick with it until further notice.

Dude, you are one motivated MFer. Just remember, if you cant get an 18X contract, you can always go to selection at a later date. 11X will definitely send you down that road. I dont know if it is still offered, but see if you can get option 40 with your contract.

Good heavens, Shawn. I've never seen anyone have to work so hard to get in.

    Keep at it.

Update: in my most reason post, I discussed the current procedure I'm trying to initiate to have my military separation codes change. I am not however trying to get my RE:code changed, but rather my "Narrative reason for separation" and my "separation code". Which are "bad conduct" right now, and need to be corrected to medical. As I research this more and more I see the formalities required in this process. I live on the west coast, very close to the coast, the facility is in Arlington Virginia, the far east coast. Instead of mailing my case, I've decided to go there in person, I will be facing a panel of 5 active duty NCO's which hear out your testimony, investigate give evidence, then make a decision which is mailed to you in 6-12 weeks. Mailing your application takes a YEAR, whereas going there in person takes less than 6 months. I will do whatever it takes to get there in person on my given date, and I will need to obtain a suit and testimonies. They want to see everything, what you did when you got out, how serious are you. I'm selling myself to these men and/or women and this is very important, because if and when this goes through if they change my codes to medical, I'm qualified to get back into the Army. I'm hoping to find some sort of assistance from this site, even if it's just a ride to the court-house in Arlington. I am low on money so I may take the Greyhound bus to Richmond which would be a 5 day straight bus ride, but I may be able to save up for a flight. I may even seek assistance in the testimony room, possibly a counsel, though I'm confident in my abilities to represent myself. Thank you for your time, I will let you guys know when I get a scheduled hearing date. At this point, a 5 day straight bus ride across the country and another back and an in-depth court-style hearing is just a speed bump towards attaining my goal. Never quit.

Between us an ar.com, I'm confident somebody is in that AO that can help you get back and forth.

The only advice I would give (which I doubt you need, anyway) is to walk in there confidently and state everything you've been doing. The impression you want to leave them with is that here is a guy fit, able and willing to serve his country (which you are). The documentation from your drill will certainly help as well.

Anybody in the VA/DC area that can help this young man out? The good karma should offset a few trips to the titty bar when you hit the Pearly Gates....

We have talked about this last night. I am 3 hours from D.C. Metro area. I will be helping him out. We are just waiting for his date.
Give you all an Idea about that bus trip it is going to take 6 days.
I am going to see if we can get him a flight into Philly, Baltimore or D.C.
