Thats why I like too do the Mentor stuff.
You can go along way kicking posters down, but to bring one up and give them motivation to drive on, no matter what, makes all the time worth while.

Affirmative,
I will be tested on October 8th, and/or October 9th, that's next Friday and Saturday. I'm not completely confident in my swim yet, but with unrelenting persistence in the pool, I'm beginning to look more like a combat side stroke swimmer than a drowning child in a lake. After technique has been fully developed, I'll work on efficiency in the water and building cardiovascular endurance. In addition, I've not forgot to continue running, pullups, situps, pushups, crossfit, and studying for the ASVAB. The Navy is currently pushing an RE code waiver as they wait for me to get my shit together. Never quit.

Keep working on the swimming. Based on the everything else you told me that is your weakest point. Keep it going.
If you want to build strength in the water swim with a full set of clothes.
I have some other swimming strength builders but the clothes trick is the easiest and cheapest.

Sitrep: at 0700 this morning we began the PST, (physical screening test), which includes a 500m sidestroke swim, a 1 1/2 mile run, 2 minute pushups / situps, and a pullup test. We're not allowed to take these tests "fresh" as they'd be too easy, so they smoked us in the water for a good 40 minutes, then smoked us again after. Seeing as the swim is what killed me last month, I was slightly in question as to the rest of my swim abilities. Regardless, I passed the swim and the rest of the PST without a problem. On Tuesday, my page 13 document *the PST document to get a SEAL contract*, is being faxed to the recruiters. I will take the ASVAB again next week or the week after. After that is done, there's just two final steps towards attaining a SEAL contract. One, I need to take a psychological evaluation test, which from what I understand is purely a test for general information and rarely affects your contract, then I have to get ANOTHER medical waiver for my back. Evidently, to get a SEAL contract, you need to go through the med waiver process once to get accepted into the Navy, and a second time for the same waiver to get into the spec ops community. The waiver takes 1-2 months. To summarize this all up, I need to take the ASVAB, a psych questionnaire, and wait on my med waiver again. After those three things are completed *hopefully by the end of next month*, I'm set for a SEAL contract. Unfortunately, they only ship SEAL deppers to basic when it's timing matches with the start of a new BUD/S class. For my area, it's February / March, so if and when I attain my contract, I can ship in February, which gives me plenty of time to continue pushing my hardest. Never quit.

Good update. Keep driving on!
Great job Shawn.
The only problem I can foresee is your psychological evaluation test.
I mean who wants to be a SEAL?
Good luck I'll call you Sunday.

Update: last Wednesday I took the ASVAB. My scores sailed far beyond what they were previously. This time, they qualified me for SEAL. The studying has paid off, another good investment. There's two remaining obstacles: firstly I need to take the CSORT psych test next week, then wait on a med waiver. Once those two steps are complete, there will be nothing left to do but DEP in, so I believe. Never quit.
