Here's the thing that bothers me about the Navy. If you fail BUDS for ANY reason, you get stuck scraping barnacles for the rest of your time.
If you fail Ranger or Q, you go to the 82nd/173rd. That's a pretty good fucking consolation prize. And provided you didn't burn your bridges you can be back at Ranger/SF training in a couple years if not less.
Good luck whichever way the road takes you!

VO is dead on! I had a soldier that switched from the Guard to Active navy, wanted to be a SEAL. I had a whole year in Iraq trying to get him to go SF so if he got hurt he could go back and get a little more rank. We hooked him up by going to his recruiter with him and they made him a corpsman first and than off to buds. He got phnemonia in BUDs. Good thin is that he had a backup plan and now he is working Reconnisance with the marines and is down at Bragg doing medical training....u can figure out where he is going...The lesson out of this is have a back up plan...Good luck..October things will ease up a bit....Never Say Die!!!

My consult has been scheduled for Tuesday night, I leave Monday for MEPS. I will be inspected by a civilian contracted doctor to determine if I'm suited for the military. Never quit.

Update: today I entered the MEPS facility at 0600. I saw the civilian contract ortho specialist at 0845 for my consultation at a nearby medical office. Results were significant, I was given fully cleared recommendations to enlist into the US Navy at any capacity I choose. This recommendation which was chosen by the Navy, will be added to my medical waiver for further speculation towards acceptance. It should come back in less than 3 weeks. If this goes through, all that is left is to take the ASVAB again, as it expired this month. Never quit!

Glad to hear that, young man. I'm glad you're getting your shot; just hate Big Green wasn't smart enough to pick you up. Keep us posted.

Nice talking with you Tuesday.

Update - medical waiver has been ACCEPTED. There's three final things to do before signing a contract: attain a tattoo waiver, attain an RE code waiver, and retake the ASVAB. The Navy has told me the tattoo waiver / RE code waiver are fast and easy. The military has spent thousands in doctor appointments and MEPS trips, so even if they aren't accepting RE code waivers, I can be "grandfathered" in, since I'm done with the process. Next week I'll be visiting MEPS to retake the ASVAB, and possibly sign a contract. Never ever quit.
Never quit.
