Update: It's now Monday, and the final word on the BUMED waiver from last week is APPROVED. I am now "officially" eligible to start the Naval Special Warfare enlistment process based on what I want to do. I'm way behind on training and it's time to get this ball rolling again.

This is a thread bump for those young folks that feel that life is tough...
Take this young mans ethics to heart and you will succeed.
All the Way
All,
I am still alive. I never received official word on the waiver. Time has been flying faster than I could ever imagine. I've already put in my reenlistment package, and they want me to go up for orders soon. Currently, I'm working on getting orders to DEVGRU, forward support for seal team 6.
Additionally, I'm trying to get my last chance in for the official PST for BUD/s. This process is pretty absurd. Whenever I hand my Army medical package to the doctors in this process, they glance back up at me like I killed a child.
Anyways. I'm 22 year old, and I'm still pushing avenues. This past few months have been AWESOME - I finished my warfare pin, significant progress in schooling, PT. My biggest concern is maintaining my back and keeping the curvature from becoming any worse - because if that happens, I'm done. But I have 6 degree of Thoracic space before I an ineligible.

What's to say? Drive on young man. Never quit until it's absolutely impossible. Then sit down and find a way around it, through it or over it. Never quit.

Glad to see you're still driving on to your objective. No matter how this journey ends for you, you're going to do some good along the way.
Now knock out 10 for going Navy, and then hang from a door for an hour or so...

Hah! I don't know if this was truly hilarious or if being on the tail-end of my 3rd 12+ hour shift staring at computer screens has any influence. But I suppose that's mostly true. I was actually speaking with the Army recruiters here recently. Details will remain classified until further notice.![]()

Every time I read SITREP like this, it makes me proud and happy for new generation, taking their turn on the wall and filling up the gaps left by our departure.
This is an unbreakable bond, cemented by the Patriotism and enthusiasm of new blood, and wisdom and experience of mature Vets.
Drive on, Shawn!
Keep us proud, stay in touch.
All the best!

Jim - I'll call you ASAP... I just checked back into this thread and saw your post.
Update: Alright, it is "package season" over here for me right now. I'm currently in my 9 month window for orders negotiation. As it stands, I have done a LOT in my 15 months at this command. I have built a strong, reputable, demonstrable history of performance and college academics. Here is what is happening:
I'm building at least 4 packages:
- US Naval Academy, Annapolis
- STA-21 (Seamen to Admiral Program)
- bud/s
- Navy DEVGRU (former SEAL team 6, Virginia, support and development)
- Army WO program *153a*
The Naval academy is dependent on my new SAT scores, the STA-21 program is dependant on that as well as my college grades, DEVGRU is dependent on a week-long screening process I may go to in Virginia next month or the following month, and finally the Army WO program for aviation which is dependant largly on my medical screening for flight qualification, and bud/s.... which is well... bud/s...
On top of all that, my "order window" means I am also up for choosing "normal" orders now *e.g. a ship, sub, shore command, etc*, which I am trying to avoid.
Never quit.
