Enlsitment update / Mentor request

Above is the link to my intro describing my situation. To summarize it; I left for infantry OSUT my senior year of high school on a Ranger contract and was kicked out the graduation week of OSUT for Scoliosis, this was June 5th of 08. I was told to wait 6 months before beginning the reenlistment process. However, after they sent my paperwork down, I was told to wait 6 more months. I am now approaching the end of the 6 month wait, which totals my actual year-long wait. I will be starting infantry OSUT from day 1 processing again.

I'm looking for information or just a general mentor for motivation. I'm plenty motivated as is, however I really have no one else to keep in touch with, no supporting family, and my Ranger mentor is very busy currently and recommended I come here. I've paid about a thousand dollars in doctor's notes and physical therapy, and continuing work on my back through a personal trainer. I hope to find some way to load at least an option 4 at MEPS this summer. I will take 11x if I have to.

No offence intended here, but are you sure you're fit enough for military service? I commend your aggresion to get in but military service isn't meant for every physical condition. Regardless, good luck. There are some excellent mentors here. I just ain't wired that way.

And 11X is a GET TO, not a HAVE TO option.

If I felt I would be jeopardizing anyone's safety and/or health, mine included, I would not try to follow through with this. The disqualification was from a political mixup on base, the curvature isn't even past military standard for a DQ. The MD's that have thoroughly checked my back including a spinal surgeon have said I'm well-suited for any infantry unit, airborne or not. The physical therapist from 3rd Ranger Batt agrees as well. I appreciate yours' and everyone else's time and information on these forums.

Go to a civilian doctor and get the degree of curvature measured, and put on some medical documents. Turn those in to the recruiter for a med read.

Check it out Cowboy, if you can get a Physician to sign off on you we are happy to have you. Get it done and sign up! It takes Ballz to enlist in a wartime Army. Overcome this, and the rest will be pudding. You may not get the Ranger option, but you can get Infantry. If you are squared away you can probably get sent to RS as a Re Up option. But try hard to get what you want up front. Make sure at the minimum you get an Airborne option.

This is the week, the paperwork is en rout. Hopefully I will be given another chance at this but with the shield of a medical waiver for my back. I've been very patient. As said on ar.com, I appreciate everyone's time and knowledge through here, I'll stay posted.

Good luck, young man. As I've said before, whether your destiny is military service or elsewhere...I believe you'll do fine.
