    THIS JUST IN...SSG Lincoln V. Dockery, 173rd Airborne Special Troops Bn was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.....

    We just had a ceremony today for 3 more Silver Stars and 3 Bronze Stars with "V" from our Afghanistan deployment. Also, one of my guys is receiving his Silver Star next week at the hospital he's recovering in. Dockery earned his award well.

    I did not mention this on the original post, just to see how it went, but what caught my eye in reading the story was Runnemede, NJ.which just so happens to be the town next to where I spent almost 15 years in. In fact when I got out the first time and eventuallly winded up in the EMS system in the mid 70's the town I was living in was Bellmawr, NJ and we would rotate with Runnemede every other month to cover 3 exits along the NJ Turnpike which ran right along the borders of both our towns and if you have ever her the legends about the NJ turnpike....there true, we were at exit 3 and it was a 2 lane each way with a 4 ft cement barrier in the middle which left little or no room for error and it was the main route from NY to FL for drugs, wpns, etc...a lot of exciting calls on that highway...simple but weird coincidence.....South Jersey....wow....
