Also the vast majority of their ARNG was deployed in the GWOT. The hesitation if nothing else makes it look like Bush II did not care or his FEMA people didn,t have a clue. The latter being a valid point since FEMA reworked their National Response Plan. Then what about assistance in rebuilding the city instead of dislocating families or putting them in toxic RV's. People need to help themselves yes but when it all goes to shit on this level, it is time for the government to step in. If the mayor fucked up the governor should be lighting a fire under his ass and make something happen. If the governor is fucking up then the president and the FEMA director putting a boot up her ass also they should have been on site immediately doing an assesment. FEMA's director should have been there once the storm passed. MOTHERFUCKING lives were at stake along with law and order. This was every executive officeholder in the chains fault. The mayor, governor and the president.
Apparently, your liberal-ness has prevented you from seeing that States still run their own affairs until they request help from the federal government. The Fed can't just move into a sovereign state and take over without being asked to...not yet...I'm sure your man Obama will try and strangle off all that silly state's rights stuff and ensure we all live under the .gov thumb; but it hasn't happened yet.

I don't give a fuck what happened or didn't happen an who bungled what where. We're missing the point. This is the official website of a President of the United States.

This is the official government website of the 43rd President. Calling him incompetent and insulting him should remain out of that realm. I would no more approve of calling Clinton a perjurer and adulterer or a "lying son of a bitch" on his official site than I would this.

If you want to google-whack whitehouse.gov (as a private citizen) to link to "miserable failure" then be my guest. To have the sitting President do it on a former President's site is unconscionable. This is beyond reproach.

If the Obama campaign/administration wants to criticize, let them do it in their own webspace. This stinks of a lack of common decency and class.

    It sickens me.

I don't think it is criticism as much as pointing out the obvious.

RF I have taken quite a few courses in emergency management and I'm still learning. I'm well aware of the Stafford Act. However you had a type 1 incident. A mega disaster. Once local resources are exhausted you turn to the state and the state petitions the president for help after the state resources are depleted. The new NRP(National Response Plan) allows for the immediate implementation of FEMA and immediate federal implementation again if confronted with a disaster of that level. Well it was pretty damn obvious that. Local and state resources would be overwhelmed. Your talking a 3 way call between the Governor, Mayor of New Orleans and the POTUS. It should have been what do you need. Send the FEMA director to set up shop. Bush showing up soon as the storm passed would have gave an appearance of genuine concern. You look at how quick his fathers administration responded to Hurricane Andrew and compare the two. GWB is not alone to blame. Their governor is just as culpable along with Mayor Nagin. It was one hell of a learning curve.

Criticism is not appropriate on the official website of a former President ESPECIALLY when put there by a new administration and characterized as "incompetence".

There is a time and a place for everything. This isn't it.

As to the response to NOLA. Gulfport, MS was just as hard hit as NOLA. Why are they back on track and NOLA isn't? Could it be local attitudes and leaders?

Vo did I not say that. It is not one person. However the final decision is the POTUS. Hopefully Nagin is bounced out of office by angry voters.

Again, not the point. His action or inaction with regard to Katrina is not cause to lambaste him using the power of the federal government under a new adverse administration on an official website.

9th Ward was in shambles before katrina.

You want to know why it took 5 days, simple IT DIDNT!!!!

Navy and CG were rescuing survivors hours after the storm was through. The main effort didn't happen fast because an incompetent Gov refused to ask for Federal Aid (as the law stipulates). Funny how the big titted blonde gets a pass while everyone blames W for her ineptitude. City of NO had a disaster plan on paper (allowing them to qualify for Fed $$$) but they never used it, was that W's fault too?

    FUCK New Orleans!
    FISHDO,
