I have an uncle that built a 4,000 sq ft addition to his house when he was 76 (ret Marine COL, then ret FAA, then ret UN) that was near 20 years ago. Last I heard he was thinking finally "settling" down.

Her age is fine. 68 is not febal.
I do agree, albeit partially. Having worked with the elderly for the last 13 years, I'm amazed at the variation in health and mental status between people of the same age. I've seen folks in their 90's who were in better shape than some that were 40 years younger. It's vitally important to stay as mentally and physically active as possible. My wife doesn't understand why I'm so hell bent on working out daily. I remind her that I work with people every day who have gotten to the point they can't take care of themselves (plus I've got to be ready to lead the resistance....)

I don't know this lady's situation, but I still suspect (for whatever reason) she either got confused or was physically unable to get out of the car quickly. We'll probably never know.

As to her age...it depends. I've seen 90 years olds sharp as a tack and people in their 50's suffering from the onset of dementia. As to her mobility, I've seen teenagers that wouldn't be able to move quick due to some form of disability.

It depends on the person. There are feeble, frail 68 year olds out there. There are also really stupid able bodied 68 yr. olds out there. Who knows what she was?

Definately a Darwin Award though...even though she was post menopausal and thus out of the gene pool anyhow.

I am 60 years old........I had to quit driving three years ago because of health problems.

Age has nothing to do with it......I have a friend that is 82, and he drives me to the grocery store. He is one of the smartest and safest drivers I have ever met.

I also have a 27 year old daughter who I will never ride with..because she won't get off the phone and pay attention to her driving.

VoTrooper is right....age doesn't mean a damn thing.
