    Default New guy

Afternoon Paratroopers, my name is Shawn, I'm 18 and out of California. I'm a mentee to Ranger Har on ArmyRanger.com. Went through some long roads in the family life, graduated high school a year early to leave on a Ranger contract, made it to the final week of infantry OSUT before getting discharged for Scoliosis last June, watched my company graduate. Spent the past 5 months doing acupuncture and intensive physical therapy to correct it and build a good medical portfolio, going to MEPS in 2 weeks to get a waiver for Scoliosis and Myopia after a long road of work, will be obtaining a new Ranger contract and starting my journey back at day 1 of infantry OSUT. There's a chance however, that I may not be able to obtain that option 40, in which case I will get an option 4. I'm here to make a connection with the 82nd. My respect and appreciation goes to all of you. Keeping motivated.

Welcome Studnut's!......Appreciate your stepping up to the plate....

There are other Airborne units besides the 82nd, you know.

If I went in today I would rather be in the 173rd....I'm just sayin'

Welcome Shawn. Definitely ignore the old guy above...he's just jealous!

I remember watching over on ar.com as you battled the scoliosis issue. It says a great deal about your character that you've continued to drive on toward your objective. No matter where life eventually takes you (whether that be The Regiment, an Airborne unit, or elsewhere), I think you'll do just fine.

Hope that physical therapy goes well; I'm doing a little of that myself these days.

    Again, welcome to the DZ!

Welcome aboard. Fucking intro was squared away like we haven't seen in a while around here.

With that kind of drive and attention to detail I have no doubt you'll succeed.

    Welcome,
Like OpsNCO said, drive like you seem to have will get you a long way in life.
Light engineers must be proficient in marksmanship, demolitions, light infantry skills, and field-expedient engineering. Because of the austere conditions in which they operate, light engineers must have knowledge of all weapons in their unit, an intimate understanding of the weapons systems of the forces they support, and a working knowledge of the enemies' weapons. The close combat skills of light engineers must be unequaled. They must hold total confidence in their abilities to apply these skills and tools.
