Re: Equipment Needed for Nothern Warfare School- ECWCS
He is offering up a bear suit -- or more specifically a extreme cold weather system polyfiberpile suit. You might wear the jacket siting in the tent but most folks never put the thing on.
I am guessing that if you show up at the school with everything you can come up with in terms of cold weather gear on their packing list, and some dark colored civilian (non-cotton) long drawers, someone will shit enough gear to get you through the course. You can only do what you can do hooah -- and I am guessing (hoping) that someone out there has realized that this is some good training for working in the 'Stan.
Light engineers must be proficient in marksmanship, demolitions, light infantry skills, and field-expedient engineering. Because of the austere conditions in which they operate, light engineers must have knowledge of all weapons in their unit, an intimate understanding of the weapons systems of the forces they support, and a working knowledge of the enemies' weapons. The close combat skills of light engineers must be unequaled. They must hold total confidence in their abilities to apply these skills and tools.
