How the fuck would you know where Sky was when he was in NAM ?
Alright,
Just so as you know.
I try very hard to give a man a chance. We all forget stuff.
However there are some things we never forget (e.g., the lower jumper question -- as someone stated, this is one of the fundamentals of Airborne training and repeated before every jump).
You have been nothing but evasive. Your responses are bordering on hostile, and the answers you have given are the most simple imaginable (e.g., is the 82nd really stationed near Fayetteville -- no shit).
The Airborne Brotherhood is alive and well -- because Paratroopers have enough pride to safeguard it against posers and wannabes who would dirty our proud traditions and the memory of the men who have proudly served and carried these traditions through the years.
Since you know so much about the Airborne Brotherhood -- might I suggest you remember that a Paratrooper can be your best friend, or your worst enemy.
You say you have paperwork -- O.K. submit it to CAL for verification and I will give you a resounding AIRBORNE! welcome. Hell, answer our questions satisfactorily and I will do the same.
Barring that -- well, I would ask that you quit wasting our time, pop smoke and exfiltrate the LZ.
Light engineers must be proficient in marksmanship, demolitions, light infantry skills, and field-expedient engineering. Because of the austere conditions in which they operate, light engineers must have knowledge of all weapons in their unit, an intimate understanding of the weapons systems of the forces they support, and a working knowledge of the enemies' weapons. The close combat skills of light engineers must be unequaled. They must hold total confidence in their abilities to apply these skills and tools.

I, am obviously not Sky but I think I can answer your question for you because I have seen similar issues come up in other posts, and in other forums, and occasionally, even in real life.
I have heard it from the guys that have been there but can never talk about it due to their sacred pact with the government and their buddies.
Now it is highly likely that the "normal" draftee could not attend airborne school as the Airborne is an all volunteer force.
Only a few, shall we say -- "very special" individuals were selected from the general populace and drafted for super-duper secret missions far behind enemy lines in direct contradiction to the Geneva Convention.
Of course, as part of their training they had to attend Airborne school.
These Mofo's were so mean, and so bad, they kept R.I.s back at their hooches playing the bitch and keeping the place clean while they were gone deep behind enemy lines figuring out A) what Jane Fonda had for breakfast that day, and 2) if they could somehow poison it before the bitch embarrassed her country even more (or made another movie).
Of course all of this is so secret, so top level eyes only, that there is no record, and they can't tell you what units they actually served in, and they really don't remember it all that well anyway due to the mind altering psychotropic drugs and deep hypnotic treatments they were forced to endure to keep the identities of their comrades, and the specifics of their mission safe.
(No wildcat -- not pointing a finger at you -- will let you save or hang yourself (just don't piss me off anymore). I just felt like injecting some humor into this post as I am currently bored out of my skull at work).
