Hello All,

Thank you to all that serve and have served this great nation. I celebrated Memorial Day today by taking my wife and kids to the Flight Museum in Galveston, TX. What a great museum! They have a great Collection of War Birds to view. I highly recommend it.

My name is James and I live near Houston, TX. I'm actually closer to the community of Atascocita, TX and Kingwood, TX. I was in the Texas Army National Guard from 1996-2002. I joined when I was 17 on the split-option program. I served in HHB 1/133rd FA out of Beaumont, TX as a medic from 1996-1998. I then relocated to Houston with Det 1 HHB 1/133rd FA FiST Team. I was the only medic(E-4 Specialist) for our FiST team of about 50 guys or so. I've been out of the Guard for about 6 years now and I really miss it. I'm interested in joining the Guard again to get into an infantry unit. I've been eye-balling an LRS unit in Central Texas. I just don't know much about it right now and can't seem to find much info on those guys. For now, I'm going to join the Army Reserves and get my direct commission as a Registered Nurse. My dad (former TXARNG recruiter) advised me to use my education to get my commission. I'm taking his advice for now but I really don't want to get stuck in an Army nursing spot. I miss going to the field, getting dirty, practicing land nav and the such. After I experience the Army Reserves Nursing side of things, I plan on finding a "high-speed" infantry unit in the Guard. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this online community.

James
