    Default Big Brown

So, no shit there I was, stuck in a waiting room at the Toyota dealership hoping the mechanics could save the PITA activist I hit so I could tell her...
"I killed seven baby horses last night when I was drunk driving...."

And this was on....so fitting......after the Kentucky Race......
(AP) Big Brown charged to the lead turning for home and then cruised down the stretch to win the Preakness on Saturday, still perfect and squarely pointed toward thoroughbred racing's first Triple Crown in 30 years.
    Anywho....
    FULL STORY

Did I find it odd watching 3 hours of horse racing...yes....
Could I have changed the channel.....yes
Was I hoping they would show the PITA retards get struck by lightening.....yes....

I'll never understand how you can have fucking 4 hours of "pregame" for a 2 minute event. At any rate, I was impressed that Big Brown left the field like nobody's business on the backend of the race. Then again I shouldn't be surprised since his trainer admitted to giving the horse steroids regularly.

You should be impressed. He's lucky he hasn't broken down, considering.

How old is the horse - 3 maybe? That's a pretty short time for steroids no?

The above story was made up.....
I actually was there to pick up on old women...

Apparently the trend now days is to have a really big purse and an even bigger cell....
And also they like to yell into their cell phones like they are talking to their friends in another city.....not calculating in that the towers make up the difference and the conversation can be conducted as if they were in the same room...

I had to leave before the main race...I was pissed.....
Sounds like Big Brown owned the comp....

Steepids aren't the issue. All futurity horses are 3 year olds. Horses bones don't fully harden until they're 5-6. There are roughly 2 dozen bones in a horse's leg from the pastern down. I'll let you do the math. Then there'd be the issue of his lines, going back to Native Dancer in 4 places. The entire line is known for having soft feet. Know who else had that much ND blood? Barbaro and Belles.

I hate horseracing with a passion.

My point is not whether or not the steroids are bad for the horse, but in the mind of the owner all he cares about is winning now - and when the horse starts to break down due to the 'roids he can retire the horse and rake in the dough by making the horse a stud and selling it's sperm.

That's pretty much all it has been for the past 4 decades. They breed them for looks and speed, not soundness. It's horseshit.

And hormones have very little to do with the breakdown. That's almost entirely genetics and immaturity, unfortunately.

So what's the beef with the steroids in horses then?

The need with the enhancements is whether it gives the horse an advantage, as well as the effect it has on them standing at stud. The concern isn't the horse breaking down, but the horse winning before it has a chance to incur injury.
