Why is it that ER nurses have no sense?

Granted, there is the rare exception, but for the love of GOD! You get some asshat moron in custody that has to be escorted the hospital. They fight, spit, claw, and bite cops and EMT's. You end up having to tie them down like Hannibal Lecter for the safety of all involved.

They struggle the whole way to the hospital. As soon as you pull into the Rescue entrance, they calm down. You see, 9 times out of 10 it's all a show. They don't need to go to the hospital...but liability dictates that if they are bleeding, they have to go.

This causes savvy frequent flyers to smack their heads on the bars and walls of the cell with full force, so they can open a cut and can go. A hospital bed with a crew of doting nurses is alot more comfortable and preferable to a metal bench in a cold cell block.

So you show up at the hospital with two or three cops in case our guest gets rowdy. You inform the nurse of all that has occurred over the past 3 hours, and that the person chilled out 2 minutes ago. You request that the arrestee be placed into security restraints (the hospital has them) and they look at you like you're a cold heartless bastard. Like you have no idea what you are talking about. They see the blood spat upon my shirt and think nothing of it.

On several occassions I have had to demand the restraints in a several minute pow wow with the staff. You spend the next hour or so getting dirty looks from these stupid women who don't understand that they are dealing with a violent sociopath who could bite their fingers off at any moment. Even when they become violent in the hospital, they still don't get it. They'll remove a spit mask from the person and then talk to them with their exposed face right over the scumbag. Don't they realize the risk they're at? Do they care?

It is especially bad when the arrestee is female.

How can someone so smart be so fucking dumb?

Make friends with the staff at the ER... plus we all in Dallas county go to Parkland (which is where all hurt LEOs go) and they don't play with the inmates...

This particular hospital sucks (county hospital), but its close. There is a reason we call it "Killer Kent". An extra 15 minutes gets us to RI Hospital, which has a very good trauma department.

Suffice it to say we have standing orders with the Fire Department to get our ass to RI Hospital if we get shot.

I took a 4177(read drunk) to the ER for blood to be drawn. The nurse on duty gets the needle out and ask the drunk of he is goin to fight. He said "yes"
She told us "pull his pants down" she then turns around with the biggest damn needle I have ever seen. Needless to say our drunk became very concerned and asks "what is that for" and she answered " if you fight I will have the officers hold you down and I will drawn the blood from your penis using this needle and btw it will hurt"
So our drunk decides that he will get the blood drawn from his arm.
And 3 month later before the trial he comes in and tries to file a complaint against me for police brutallity. The IA LT laughs hard and throws they guy out of the office.
On the other hand My sister in law and I are in a argument over the cell phone ban in New Jersey which I consider fluff legislation. You already have laws on the books that cover distracted to reckless driving. get this she gets angry and yells at me "well you would be for it, if you saw the kids that where in involved in the car accidents with cell phones."


You ever notice it is always the "kids" argument with liberals.
