It should have been a certificate of attendance then. A certificate of completion is a bite in the ass on the PR side of things. Civilians who are (too often) willfully ignorant would likely side with the feminist waving her "official certificate" at any camera willing to take a snapshot or judge willing to listen.

As a civilian and friend and family member to several QP's, I'd like to respectfully ask that she take the certificate and shove it straight up her PC ass, the same as I felt during the Shinfuckoff debacle.

    I'm just saying.

Sure there are those that were in the AO that would rather, rightfully, she had been refused the school period. That she had been held to the standards and sent on her way without an unearned reward, period. There is no right way to have handled something that never should have occurred.

I've never known of a certificate of attendance for an Army school, you either graduate or you don't IIRC.

There isn't. But since they were pulling things out of their 4th POC for this situation, they should have concocted one of those as well. Anything but a certificate saying she completed the course - especially when she did not. They obviously needed something to give her to satisfy some politico. A 'thanks for being here' cert. in lieu of what she recieved is better endured in the long run (as we are currently witnessing).

But woulda, coulda, shoulda won't create a resolution so the whole point is moot anyway.

I often wondered exactly what the story behind women wearing Green Berets was. I was once told if a woman was assigned to a Special Forces unit as a clerk in some HHC office, she could wear the beret. That didn't sound right to me, as I always understood you had to finish the school to get the beret. I knew a guy who swore he saw a pregnant lady in dress greens and tennis shoes at Benning wearing a Green Beret, all I could think was, God no, please say it isn't so.

At one point, from what I understand, the Green beret was organizational headgear and was worn by all who were assigned to the unit regardless of MOS or qualification. That changed and the non 18 series personnel started wearing the maroon beret.

That was a true story. It's changed now. Only SF qualified wear green berets now.

At the beginning only those who completed the SF course and were accepted by a Group could wear a Green Beret with a full flash. Then there was what was known as a "candy striper" a beret with a cloth bar with group colors. This was worn by those assigned to a Group, support, MI, so on. Then the legs took away the berets. After they were regained anyone assigned to an Airborne (beret wearing unit) wore the beret of the unit, with full flash and Airborne tab. This was for "uniformity".

Now in the fantasy army, sorry, "Army of one" all soldiers are soldiers from day one. All soldiers are "warriors". All soldiers are elite and deserving of a beret, for uniformity.

I recall being in a convenience store in Fayetteville back in '89. We saw a cook wearing his whites and a green beret. We couldn't help but bust out laughing. We said, "WOW! Are you Special Forces?!" He didn't want to answer us for some reason.

Two other men involved in the incident took the punishment and went on, as far as I know, to other things in the Army.

But yes, Wilder got a certificate and a beret. But according to the people who should know, no she never earned it as in, she didn't attend every day of the course, meet every standard of the course or adhere to testing standards.
She never got to wear the Beret unless it was posing in front of the bathroom miror. She was transferred out the day after she won her suit.
