and RedFalcon: I'm not trying to avoid the shit, I just want to be stationed in Europe. 173rd is currently touring Afghanistan I believe, so I'd end up playing in the sand anyways.

What we are trying to prepare you for is that once you put the uniform on, the chances are extremely high that you will not be spending a whole lot of time at home, no matter where you are stationed.

Ahh understood. I think I took FO2325's message too literally then? He means I might get Vincenza in contract but I'll be deployed anyway? Sounds good. I'm not signing to pretend soldier, I want some action.

Yeah good luck getting duty station of choice...if it were that easy I would have gotten stationed at Fort Benning but no such luck. They put ya where they need ya. When I enlisted I told them I wanted Duty station of choice and they basically laughed in my face. I went to MEPS 6 different times trying to get what I wanted. Shit they even stuck me with the worst job in the Army so yeah good luck. The Army isn't here to serve you just remember that.

Ok, first off I am glad you are looking to go above and beyond (Dark ), the "regular" (ie LEGS) Troops. Not casting dispersions. Being Airborne means you are willing (ie: have too) go above and beyond!. Kudos to that.

Listen to the members of this board, we are all here to help - ask.

Be careful, you might/will get what you are asking for! If you really mean it then pay the fuck attention to your trainers! And pay the fuck attention to your Sargent! Keep your fucking head down!

What most people don't understand is being a Paratrooper is a way of life, we are Brothers. Perfect example was we had our first "Reunion" of AP.ORG down in Houston Texas (you can see the pics in the gallery). Most of us didn't know the others form a hole in the ground, but hell, we all fell right in as if we knew each other for years! That's what it means to be a Paratrooper - Knowing we can count on each other.

Good luck, God speed, and remember, we are here to help!

    Welcome aboard.

As VB stated, Airborne is a way of life. Anyone can be a soldier but it takes a certain person to be a Paratrooper. Also as VB said, be careul what you ask for. With the way things are going, it doesnt matter what unit you go to, you'll
    get deployed.

    Oh and welcome!!

Listen to these Paratroopers carefully. They are spot on in every aspect and you can't get anymore sound advice then what they tell you. Listen and pay attention to details it will save your butt big time.
