    Default My Father-in-law

Yesterday was a tough day, bros. My wife and I drove all night to Amarillo, Texas where my father-in-law was admitted in the hospital. He was on life support after he collapsed due to multiple organ failure.

My wife made the difficult decision to pull the life support, as his will stated that he wished for none in a situation such as this. Tough decision and she is still agonizing over whether she made the right one.

    Rest easy, dad.

    Condolences on your loss.

I just hope that your wife can come to grips that this was not her decision, but his. He went to some trouble to express that. That being said, it's easier said than done. I'm sure this tiny reassurance is of no help at this difficult time.

I hope she gets through it okay.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. We're in the middle of arranging for his burial, so the logistics of getting everything done has helped take Angie's mind off of what happened. It's actually been good for her, as she's been able to speak to many of his friends, and they've been enjoying talking and laughing about him and his life.

While I was typing this, I found out that just a few months ago, Charles wrote his wishes for the ceremony. Among them were who he wanted to be a pallbearer for the casket. Of the six men chosen, I was one. I can't tell you what an honor that is for me. Charles was a great man with hundreds of friends who would've loved to have done that. I was the only non-blood person he asked to be a pallbearer. I am deeply honored and humbled.

Again, thank you to all. You are truly my dearest friends.
